IT'S OFFICIAL - I AM A ONE PERCENTER

On the very same day, that the greatest President since Ronald Reagan signed the 2017 Tax Cut legislation lowering taxes for hard-working middle class Americans, and just about everyone else - I became a 'one percenter.' 


But it's not what you think.  Look at this notification I received from CapitalOne Savings yesterday.



You read that right. My savings account is now earning an astounding 1% interest. I am well on the way to banking away one million dollars. I used the internet to learn that $1000, compounded monthly at 1% will grow to one million dollars!

As long as I seed this CapitalOne account with $1000, at this new 1% interest rate, it will grow to one million dollars. That's the good news. The bad news is that it will take 692 years. Sometime in the year 2709, my one thousand dollar investment in CapitalOne Savings will grow to more than one million dollars! And with nearly 700 years of inflation, maybe, just maybe, I will have enough money to purchase the new iPhone 3000.

Another wasted opportunity this week. I exercised plenty. I ate more. I gained weight.

WHAT TIME IS IT?

Before my 'time', back in the fifties, the question: 'What time is it?' was answered: 'It's Howdy Doody Time'.  (Don't ask)  


Nowadays, when traversing the state of Indiana, the question: 'What time is it?' never has a simple answer.  The map below shows that the bulk of the state is part of the Eastern Time Zone, while two sections of the westernmost part of the state (north and south) are part of the Central Time Zone.



The fact that the state has these different time zones can be confusing.  Chicago is always in the Central Time Zone.  Yesterday, I had an appointment in Indianapolis.  I left Chicago in the morning and I 'lost' an hour as I travelled to the Eastern Time Zone to get to Indianapolis. My next appointment on Wednesday, today, is scheduled in Evansville.  This puts me back in the Central Time Zone.  So, in a way, I get back the hour that I 'lost'.'  I will be back near the central part of the state on Thursday, which means I will 'lose' an hour again.  But not too worry, I return home on Thursday to be back in Chicago for an appointment on Friday and I will 'gain' the hour back.  Confused?  Me too.  And finally, on Saturday night, technically 2:00AM Sunday morning, the entire country will move their clocks ahead one hour and everyone is 'lose' and hour.  (which we don't get back until November.)  Einstein was right....Time is relative.

Howdy Doody was an American children's television program (with circus and Western frontier themes) that was created and produced by E. Roger Muir[1] and telecast on the NBC network in the United States from December 27, 1947 until September 24, 1960. It was a pioneer in children's television programming and set the pattern for many similar shows. One of the first television series produced at NBC in Rockefeller Center, in Studio 3A, it was also a pioneer in early color production as NBC (at the time owned by TV maker RCA) used the show in part to sell color television sets in the 1950s.
