I'LL HAVE THE CHICKEN TESTICLE SOUP - HOLD THE DEADLY VIRUS by Ann Coulter

I'LL HAVE THE CHICKEN TESTICLE SOUP - HOLD THE DEADLY VIRUS

It’s probably a coincidence, but I notice that as businesses go under, jobs are lost, careers are ended and trillions of dollars are drained from the economy, the people most avidly pushing the coronavirus panic are doing quite well.

No politician or government official has taken a salary cut. To the contrary, dusty bureaucrats now find the entire country transfixed by their every utterance. Cable news hosts still make millions of dollars -- and now they get to work from home!

Annoyingly, though, journalists can’t seem to relay the basic elements of a news story: who, what, where and why.

First, who’s dying? It appears to be mostly the old, people with specific medical conditions and vapers.

To be sure, that’s not as important as daily updates on Chris Cuomo’s personal battle with the coronavirus, but it might be kind of important to the 17 million Americans who’ve been thrown out of work, many of whom are not elderly, immunocompromised or vapers.

Second, the “what.” What exactly constitutes a “coronavirus death”?

It turns out a person with Stage 4 lung cancer and a bullet through the heart will be counted as a “coronavirus death” if he also tested positive for the disease, OR merely exhibited symptoms associated with it (symptoms that are coextensive with the flu and pneumonia).

We’re told that, if anything, coronavirus deaths are being undercounted because the numbers don’t include those who die of it at home.

If so, then the death count also excludes those who die at home of other things, like heart attacks and poisonings. Many of these people might have survived -- except they were too scared to go to a hospital or couldn't find an EMT to take them there, per current edicts.

The “where” is: Where did the virus originate, and where did it first land in this country?

Despite the media’s best efforts -- DON’T CALL IT THE “CHINESE VIRUS”! -- people know that the virus began at a wet market in China.

But where did it start in this country? Washington state was the site of our very first case. Washington state is also 9.3% Asian. Even now, it has eight times more coronavirus cases per capita than neighboring Oregon (4.8% Asian).

Could it be that Chinese-Americans have more contact with the epicenter of this plague than other Americans? As the left always lectures us, BELIEVE THE SCIENCE!

The virus next leapt to New York (9% Asian) and New Jersey (10% Asian). The worst-hit borough of Manhattan is Queens. Guess which borough has the most Asians? Elmhurst Hospital in Queens is the worst-hit hospital in the nation. Elmhurst neighborhood: 50% Asian.

Notice a pattern? While it’s true that “viruses don’t have nationalities!” -- and thank you very much for pointing that out, media! -- the carriers of viruses do have nationalities.

Arguably, Trump had a reason to shut down travel from China other than “hysteria, xenophobia and fear-mongering", as Joe Biden claimed in a tweet on Feb. 1.

Of course, once it’s here, it’s here and can spread all over. Still, compare New York and New Jersey to, say, Montana and West Virginia.

Chinese virus deaths, so far, by population:

-- New York (9% Asian): 29 per 100,000

-- New Jersey (10% Asian): 13 per 100,000

-- Montana (0.9% Asian): 0.6 per 100,000

-- West Virginia (0.8% Asian): 0.2 per 100,000

Then there’s California, which alone among the four states with the highest Asian populations has relatively few coronavirus cases, probably due to its warm climate and little public transportation, among other things. In those respects, California is a lot like Texas -- which has about a third as many Asians and also about half as many coronavirus deaths (1.1 per 100,000 in California, compared to 0.71 per 100,000 in Texas).

MEDIA: Oh, why does it matter?

OK, OK, you’re right. But isn’t the prevalence of the coronavirus in states with high Asian populations at least as interesting as this recent article in The New York Times magazine?

Story summary:

Man with severe asthma gets coronavirus, has low-grade fever for approximately 10 days with muscle pain, nausea and fatigue, develops walking pneumonia per X-ray (no clinical evidence) ...

Recovers.

The End.

Finally, why? Why do we have to deal with this virus at all?

The media would prefer if you would stop asking this question, but Americans who didn’t have to die are dead because of Wall Street’s decision to merge our economy with the Chinese, who have unusual eating habits.

The Chinese eat wolf pups. But eating dog wasn’t weird enough. It didn’t give them a frisson of freakishness. They also eat bats, snakes and chicken testicles.

Husband: Oh, honey, golden retriever again?

[Kids groan]

Mom: Not tonight! For a special treat, we're having chicken testicles!

Kids: Aw, you're the best mom ever!

Tigers and rhinos are the most endangered species on Earth because Chinese people think rhinoceros horns and tiger penises can cure impotence. The Caspian, Bali and Javan tigers are already extinct because of this charming folk remedy.

Recently added to the endangered species list is the cute, cartoonish pangolin, the most trafficked animal is the world. Unfortunately, the pangolin’s scales are believed to cure any number of ailments, according to traditional Chinese medicine.

Where’s PETA?

The media are too busy covering for China. At least the Chinese aren’t white.

Although, it occurs to me that, despite America’s terrible toxic whiteness, one way our culture is superior to others is that we don’t believe lunatic nonsense that wipes out entire species or launches viral pandemics on the world.

Now back to Chris Cuomo’s riveting battle with the coronavirus.

THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE by RICH LOWERY

ECONOMY & BUSINESS

This Is Not Sustainable

Countries have experienced economic depressions before, but not usually as a matter of choice.
The nationwide coronavirus shutdowns over the past two weeks have ground parts of the country to a halt. We have probably never before in our history seen so much economic activity vaporize so quickly — within days or even hours. The Great Depression and the panics of the 19th century are the only possible analogues.
Goldman Sachs is forecasting a 24 percent drop in quarterly GDP. Morgan Stanley is anticipating a 30 percent decline.
These are the top-line numbers of a vastation that will throw millions out of work, stress families and blight personal lives, destroy the dreams of small-business owners, and bankrupt industries. This is a tale of human misery, not just of declines in the stock market and in GDP.
The federal government can alleviate some of the damage, but even the biggest, best-designed stimulus bill is no substitute for shuttered storefronts and factories. And how many times can Washington pass $2 trillion bills? No, this is not sustainable, nor will people stand for it except as a temporary expedient. President Donald Trump is already expressing impatience with his own guidance against gatherings of more than 10 people for the next 15 days.

If that sentiment is understandable, it’d be foolish to give up on the lockdowns before they have much of a chance to, in the cliché of the hour, flatten the curve.
And it’s important to remember that the disease itself is imposing an economic cost. It would have caused a recession regardless of government policy. Would New York City restaurants really be full if it weren’t for the Andrew Cuomo–ordered lockdown? Would people be eager to get on airplanes? To book a cruise? To see a Broadway show? To go to Disneyland?
If the disease had been left unchecked, it would have exacted an enormous price, in lives of the infected, in the breakdown of the hospital system, in the follow-on effects on people ill with conditions that would have gone untreated. No matter how bad today’s lockdowns are, imagine if we decided to undertake them at a time when the U.S. already had a million cases and the health-care system was in deep crisis. The answer to our current situation doesn’t require downplaying COVID-19, or going about business as usual and hoping for the best. The advantage of the lockdowns is that they make every other public-policy option look cautious and inexpensive by comparison. What can be more radical than telling tens of millions of Americans to shelter in place?

Our aim should be to shift from the blunderbuss solution of mass shutdowns to rifle-shot remedies, on the model of what South Korea has done with its widespread testing (although it has much more favorable conditions as a smaller, more cohesive country with an outbreak centered on one church).
We should focus on the production of tests, ventilators, masks, and other protective gear on an industrial scale. Whatever the government has to spend or do to get it done should happen — just as if we were on a wartime footing.
The first priority should obviously be backstopping the hospital system and protecting front-line medical workers. But, as economists Paul Romer and Alan M. Garber argue, we need to widen out from there to create a system of population-wide testing and the distribution of protective gear to workers interacting with the public to protect against the spread, while allowing for ordinary work.
This regimen would depend on innovation — cheaper, faster tests, etc. — but that is surely within our power with enough will and resources.

Then, we could begin to return to normal with much less risk, even if vulnerable populations and metropolitan hot spots still require extraordinary precautions.
Whatever path we take will be costly and have its downsides. All we can know with certainty is that the current path is untenable.

THIS PANDEMIC IS REAL!

I found this from an article in 2016.
I specifically wanted a non-conservative source.

(CNN) More people die in car crashes each year in the United States than in other high-income countries, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a report Wednesday.
In 2013, more than 32,000 people died on U.S. roads, roughly 90 fatalities a day, according to the CDC.

Technically this is not a pandemic, technically it is not an epidemic. But it is a lot of people.
What I think we should do to minimize this carnage is ban all cars for non-essential travel.

If we can save just one life wouldn't it worth it?
If the life was yours you would surely agree.

There is of course a reason why this proposal of mine to ban all cars for non-essential driving is that the idea is amazingly stupid.  My 'cure' for saving lives on our roads would be worse than the 'disease'  My moronic solution would be worse than the current situation.

My only question regarding the CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC is: Are we over-reacting?

Yes, I know CORONAVIRUS is a dangerous virus or flu.
We have had deadly flus before.
We will have similar problems again.

Maybe if we were not doing all the things we are currently doing to fight coronavirus, all of us would die, or half of us, or one quarter of us, or only 10 million people or only 32,000 people.  We lost 32,000 people every year on the roads according to CNN.  Why are we not addressing that crisis!

GOOD BYE MINI MIKE

I guess one cannot 'buy' a nomination in the Democratic Party.
See you later mini Mike.
Now you can act like a man again.
You can stop begging to be accepted by the likes of racists like Al Sharpton.

Wow, was that ever pathetic.
You didn't even have the 'marbles' to explain that you would not vote for Bernie Sanders had he won the nomination.
This means that you are such a low-life Trump Hating former Republican that you would have preferred a Communist over Donald Trump.  I have one question for you:  Are you stupid?
This is why you lost.
Because nobody likes a dishonest weasel liar....
Even Democrats that agree with your nonsense - do not like wishy washy slimebags.
You are a weasel.
Once again, congratulations on kicking *ss in American Samoa!
Great Debater.
Great campaign.
Great way to spend 500 million dollars,
You know that money could have potentially helped real people.
narcissists do not care about other people - and boy did you ever prove that.
Adios!
Make America Great Again - and go away!

I think I am going to buy a BIG GULP and drink it in your honor!
(Thank God I do not live in New York City - as that is still legal in America)

DEMOCRATIC DEBATE WEDNESDAY LAS VEGAS - WHO IS FRONTRUNNER NOW?

I am 'publishing' this page before I sit down to watch the debate...
I cannot fathom that Bloomberg will increase his poll numbers.
The guy may be a billionaire - but it does not make him a genius.
I know that this an unpopular opinion.
The guy has zero charisma.
Charisma is important.
Bernie may be nuts, but at least he is interesting.
Bloomberg is also nuts, and he is not interesting....
Ok, that's enough for now...

GOODBYE QUID PRO JOE

Let's talk politics... In previous years posting every day, I enjoyed dipping into some political pontificating.... It's time to rediscover that.

President Biden? Perhaps of his condo association, not President of the United States of America

On Tuesday night the State of New Hampshire held a primary which will signal the end of the Presidential aspirations of Joe Biden.  The man deserves to be enjoying his retirement and the many millions of dollars immorally 'earned' by him and his family.

After years of hearing how President Trump was a 'liar'
Here is a whopper of a lie from Vice President Biden:

From the very beginning, Biden claimed that he did not desire the endorsement of President Barack Obama.  This was so patently untrue - that a person would have to be medically brain-dead to believe it.  If it were true that Biden asked Obama not to endorse him - then it would be demonstrably proven that the guy is far too stupid to be President.  So either he is a bad liar or dumber than a box of rocks.
Relax everyone, it is possible that he is both.

Adios Joe.
Adios Pocahontas

Hello Democratic Socialist/Communist nominee for President, Bernie Sanders.

Can Bloomberg snatch the nomination from Bernie?
Maybe...
He is still a clueless Democrat, but at least he is not a communist.

CIGARETTE SMOKING MAN

It is expected that President Donald Trump will authorize the memo some time today which will show that the FBI, did in fact, have a bias against Trump and has behaved in a dishonorable way during the most recent presidential election campaign. Who is responsible for this? Mueller? Comey? I think it was Cigarette Smoking Man. Conspiracies always seem ridiculous, until they are proven true. Our FBI has been tainted. One more way that Obama, weaponized parts of the government against his political enemies. We are very fortunate to have Donald Trump sitting behind the Resolute Desk these days.

Cigarette Smoking Man
Fictional character
Cigarette Smoking Man is a fictional character and one of the primary antagonists of the Fox science fiction-supernatural television series The X-Files. He serves as the arch-nemesis of FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder.

SAY IT AIN'T SO, JOE!

Last night, our leader, our President, Donald Trump gave a speech that was meant to be unifying. He spoke about many accomplishments and milestones that our country has experienced during the past year. One great example, was when he touted the lowest unemployment rate among African-Americans in history. The camera panned to the Congressional Black Caucus who sat looking like someone had just whispered to them that their dog had just died.  You see, good economic news for America is disastrous news for the Democrats.  You might say, well isn't the reverse true when there is a Democrat president?  It might be.  There is no way of knowing. Democrats traditionally damage and destroy economic prosperity. No surprise to any of my readers that I thought Donald Trump gave a great, positive uplifting speech last night....  But what about official Democrat response given by Joe Kennedy III.

That hateful, speech given my Joe Kennedy who was spewing so much bile, it literally leaked from his mouth in some kind of glistening spittle. And I want to give credit to the producer of the Imus in the Morning Show, Bernard McGuirk who asked this question, which I will paraphrase:

What was with the broken car in the background? Did they fish out his uncle's car from Chappaquiddick?

You need to have a twisted sense of dark humor to find that funny. I found it funny.

Really, what was the point of the car with its hood up serving as background to the  Democratic response to the State of the Union address?  I am sure it was a very erudite and scholarly metaphor for something. Obviously I am too stupid to understand it.

One of the most famous quotes in sports history is linked to the date September 28, 1920.
On that day, “Shoeless Joe” Jackson supposedly admitted during testimony to a grand jury that he was one of eight Chicago White Soxbaseball players who took bribes to let the Cincinnati Reds win the 1919 World Series.
It came to be known as the Black Sox scandal” and it was devastating for baseball fans.
A crowd of fans were gathered outside the Cook County Courthouse where Jackson was testifying.
Word spread among them that their hero had admitted he’d helped throw the series to the Reds.
According to legend, as Jackson left the courthouse, a heartbroken young boy went up to him and begged: “Say it ain’t so, Joe.”
It’s legend rather than fact because there are holes in various aspects of the story.
For one thing, there’s no court record of Jackson admitting he was involved in fixing the game – and, publicly, he always denied it.
In fact, in 1921, he was found innocent by a Chicago jury.
In addition, quotation experts have determined that the legendary quote is a misquote of a quote that was probably fabricated by a reporter in the first place.
