MORE CONSERVATIVE THAN RONALD REAGAN

I would have voted for a ham sandwich over Hillary Clinton. When I voted for Donald Trump for President, I did not believe that he would really do half the things that he said he would do. I did not believe that he would govern as a conservative. I barely believed him to be a conservative. In fact, I thought he might be a just slightly left of center, compared to off the charts far-left Hillary Clinton. None of this mattered, from my perspective, a choice for Donald Trump was the superior choice to Hillary Clinton. I was wrong. Donald Trump has continued to surprise me. He has nerves of steel. He does not give a fig what the bi-coastal elites think of him. He (correctly) knows that Americans with real jobs, appreciate him. He has governed as a conservative. In fact, he has governed even more conservatively than Ronald Reagan did in his first year in office. I would have never believed it. But it is true. Donald Trump has out-Reaganed Reagan.  It's official: Donald Trump has governed even more conservatively than Ronald Reagan. Who'd a thunk it? Not me, I admit it.

Conservative Heritage Foundation Rates Trump’s First Year Better Than Reagan’s

.

News Flash to Conservatives in the Republican Party – According to the Heritage Foundation President Trump did an amazing job in his first year in office – even better than conservative and American icon President Ronald Reagan!

The New York Times reported that the conservative Heritage Foundation ranks President Trump as doing even better than conservative icon President Ronald Reagan in the first year of his Presidency –
The Trump administration has pursued policies that have hewed remarkably close to the recommendations of a leading conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation, which found in a new review that nearly two-thirds of its ideas had been carried out or embraced by the White House over the past year.
Not one to dwell on the details of governing, President Trump has shown a considerable degree of deference to groups within the conservative movement like Heritage, leading to a rightward shift in social, environmental, immigration and foreign policy.
The results, Heritage found in its review, exceeded even the first year of Ronald Reagan’s presidency, whose tenure has long been the conservative gold standard.”
The Times continued that as the horrible Obama years came to an end –
Heritage began developing in 2016 a list of 334 policy prescriptions that a new Republican administration could adopt. It included a variety of actions, like reimposing work requirements for welfare recipients, ending the program that shields young immigrants brought here illegally as children, withdrawing from the Paris climate accord and eliminating certain gender identity protections.
Heritage said that 64 percent of those items were enacted by the administration either through executive order or another means of enforcement, or included in Mr. Trump’s budget, which has not been voted on by Congress.
In Reagan’s first year, only 49 percent of Heritage’s wish list items were embraced by the president or enacted. At the time, Heritage identified a familiar problem for why the administration’s policies were wanting. In almost every federal agency, Heritage said in November 1981, “delayed appointments, unqualified or misqualified appointments, or the appointment of individuals who are not committed to the President’s goals and policies” had delayed or thwarted policy changes.”
President Trump incurred his fair share of challenges during his first year but his results were historic –

It’s time for all conservatives and freedom fighters in the US to get behind this President who stands tall in the face of unjust and slanderous attacks from all sides.  President Trump is Making America Great Again!

IT'S OFFICIAL - I AM A ONE PERCENTER

On the very same day, that the greatest President since Ronald Reagan signed the 2017 Tax Cut legislation lowering taxes for hard-working middle class Americans, and just about everyone else - I became a 'one percenter.'

But it's not what you think.  Look at this notification I received from CapitalOne Savings yesterday.

You read that right. My savings account is now earning an astounding 1% interest. I am well on the way to banking away one million dollars. I used the internet to learn that $1000, compounded monthly at 1% will grow to one million dollars!

As long as I seed this CapitalOne account with $1000, at this new 1% interest rate, it will grow to one million dollars. That's the good news. The bad news is that it will take 692 years. Sometime in the year 2709, my one thousand dollar investment in CapitalOne Savings will grow to more than one million dollars! And with nearly 700 years of inflation, maybe, just maybe, I will have enough money to purchase the new iPhone 3000.

IT'S ELECTION SEASON - LET'S HAVE A POLL

Here in the United States our 2016 Presidential election is already underway.  There are candidates from the Republican and Democratic sides vying for support to be the nominee of their respective political party.  Every week, there are scores of new polls being released to show that this or that candidate's support is rising or falling.

So, I thought, maybe the Marc Jacobs Weight Loss Journal should have it's own poll.

I am planing on letting this poll run through the end of the year.

On the right of this blog entry you will see a poll where you can select your favorite blog entry from a list of twelve that I have selected.  These blog entries are among my favorites.   If you have not seen some  of these posts - I fervently recommend them.

I have not voted in my own poll - but if I did - I am sure that my favorite blog post was the one from Sunday July 5th, 2015 where  I discussed where weight 'goes' when one is dropping pounds.  (LOST WEIGHT? WHERE DID IT GO?) I am most proud of that post - as it is informative and (mildly) amusing.

Two days ago I was wondering if I still had the ability to limit myself to 1000 calories in a day.  I did precisely that successfully on Wednesday.   Yesterday, I was back at it with a relatively high calorie day.  This time, I balanced my eating with a wildly rigorous workout schedule.

I spent 90 minutes on the treadmill at 12:30AM Thursday morning.
and then I was back at it at 3:30PM completing another 90 minutes.
For the day, I burned 4000+ calories.
As we have discussed in prior posts, the calories burned that various exercise equipment report is some approximation of what is actually burned.   However, I am certain that if one spends a total of 3 hours within a 24 hour period on an elliptical machine set to maximum resistance - that there is little question that the calories burned = MANY.  (Whether it really is 4000, or 3000.... who knows, but it surely is a lot!)

These two recent polls show support for various candidates in Nevada as of July 2015. As of today, July 30, 2015 Americans have not seen the first televised debate, most of these candidates are unknown to most Americans, and most Americans are too busy enjoying their summer to be bothered with a minor detail like presidential politics 16 months before the actual election in November 2016!

It will be interesting to see how this particular election cycle develops.  At this time, inexplicably Donald Trump is atop the candidates in the Republican Party and Hillary Clinton is the Queen of the Democratic Party.  America will likely not survive another 'flaming socialist liberal.'   Let me amend that.   America will survive.   It will simply be completely unrecognizable - as it is starting to become already.

As you know, I have tried to be apolitical with my blog.  That will become increasingly difficult as this election cycle unfolds.  I will try to be as apolitical as possible.  Or as Bart Simpson says: "I will try to try"

"I'll try to try."  - Bart Simpson

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

At the very bottom of the pack of the Republican candidates is former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.  He is a good man with good values. Apparently he will not be the President of the United States.   Nevertheless, It was an honor for me to meet him four years ago when he was campaigning in Iowa.

Back then, in 2011, I likely had not reached 309 lbs yet, but  I was well on my way....

This photo, also from 2011 shows my daughter with a 'cardboard cutout' of President Ronald Reagan.  Dixon, Illinois is a town that young Ronald Reagan lived in as a young boy.  His Dixon, Illinois home is now a museum and open to the public, I thought I would post this picture as a public service. That way people from around the world could see what a genuine American Leader looked like in the past. President Ronald Reagan was admired by his friends and respected by his enemies.  For the past 35 years, American Conservatives have been wondering where a leader like this might be found once again.   If you ask me, and I know you didn't - I nominate Ted Cruz or Scott Walker.

WHO ARE YOU

WHO ARE YOU (1978) is great album from the The Who, although not quite as classic as Tommy (1969), Who's Next (1971) and/or Quadrophenia (1973).    Still WHO ARE YOU is undeniably a great album.

Yesterday, the MARC JACOBS WEIGHT LOSS JOURNAL crossed the threshold of it's 10,000th visit, I thought I would tell you, my readers, WHO YOU ARE. Since December 24, 2014 when I embarked on my weight loss journey, I have developed two new hobbies: LOSING WEIGHT and BLOGGING ABOUT MY WEIGHT LOSS.  The blog has been written for it's one most royal reader, that is, me.  I have enjoyed revisiting some of the things that I wrote earlier as the journey began.  I try to make each post interesting.  One of the purposes of the blog is to serve to document how and where my successful weight loss came from in case I should ever regress.  Today, I speak with great confidence that I will not revert back to my old moronic lifestyle.  Now that I think about it, the way I was living prior to December 24, 2014 shouldn't have been called a lifestyle as it was probably leading more to death than life. It was more of a deathstyle.   Enough of kicking myself, that old me is gone.  Just as President Ronald Reagan, in a 1982 speech to the British Parliament predicted the eventual fall of Communism by stating that "it will be left on the ash heap of history" so, too, have I left my old stupid habits on the ash heap of history.

WHO ARE YOU?

TODAY'S BLOG IS ABOUT YOU - MY READERS.  One of the very cool things about hosting a blog on Google's BLOGGER is the ease in:
keeping track on how many people visit
keeping track of when they visit
keeping track of what countries they visit from
keeping track of the most popular blog entries over various periods of time.

AND TODAY, I AM GOING TO SHARE SOME OF THAT INFORMATION WITH YOU AS THE MARC JACOBS WEIGHT LOSS JOURNAL HAS HOSTED ITS 10,000th VISIT!

Who Are You?   Let me tell you...

Google's 'blogger' allows me to see from what countries, the visitors to my blog come from.  This can be broken down so that one can see the 'all-time' list, or just the list from the past month, week, day or even the past two hours.  It has been great fun to see the wide variety of countries that are represented.   Here is the all-time top ten list as of Tuesday morning, April 14, 2015

TOTAL PAGEVIEWS TO THE BLOG 10,019   (broken down by the top ten countries)

UNITED STATES       7426     74.1%
UNITED KINGDOM   823        8.2%
INDIA                           515         5.1%
CANADA                     368         3.7%
AUSTRALIA               171         1.7%
RUSSIA                        123         1.2%
IRELAND                      92         0.9%
FRANCE                        64         0.6%
GERMANY                    38         0.4%
NEW ZEALAND           23         0.2%

Google's 'blogger' also will make a list of the top ten most visited blog posts.  These lists can also be viewed in the same time frames as the list of home countries of the visitors.  All-time list, the past month, the past week, the past day or the past two hours.  Here is the top ten blog posts with the number of visitors during the life of the blog.  Remember, that it is much harder for a recent blog post to compete with an older popular post as there is simply less time that it has been available to be viewed.

So that, dear readers is WHO YOU ARE.  I think that who you are, are people who might be seeking their own answers to their own battles with weight. Some of you are just family (Hello Jennifer, Hello Mom, Hello Sara, Hello Andy)   Some of you are friends (Hello Jack)  My intentions are to continue to blog daily as long as I have something that seems interesting (at least to me) to say.  I can anticipate that once I get down to my goal weight, which I don't know precisely what that is - a whole new set of challenges will present themselves - number one on that list is maintenance.  Maintenance is probably not quite as fun as the ski-slope of weight shedding that I am on now - but without proper maintenance - this journey would be a useless endeavor.

I do want to thank you, my dear readers, for reading what I have been writing for these past few months.  I feel like I am writing a book, publishing one page per day.  I know that I have enjoyed revisiting some of the emotions that I was experiencing along the way and I hope that in some very small way, my journey has enriched your life at least a little bit.   SEE YOU TOMORROW, Marc
