ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES

Senator Charles Schumer has been widely quoted as saying something along the lines that if a supreme court justice nominee cannot get the 60 votes needed for confirmation, the nominee should be changed, not the rules.

Apparently Democrats DID NOT feel this way when the last president was nominating lower court judges who could not get 60 votes in the Senate. At that time, it was NOT deemed prudent to change the nominee, but to change the rules.

Changing the rules for a Supreme Court nominee to a simple majority is the 'so-called' nuclear option.

Our last president very famously said that "Elections have consequences." Can't argue with that.  So my question for Senator Charles Schumer and the rest of the Democrat Senators: When did election stop having consequences?  (follow-up question - Do elections only have consequences if the Democrats win?)

I sincerely need some bonafide spring weather. Since, I have little patience for walking outside in blustery damp conditions, I spent some time on the treadmill yesterday.... My speed was only 3.7mph and I did not incline at all, but at least I was at it for 99 minutes and I traveled 6.13 imaginary miles.

CHILLING PROPOSAL

CALIFORNIA DEM INTRODUCES BILL TO OVERRIDE FIRST AMENDMENT

.
Assemblyman Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park) has a proposal

.
The California Political Cyberfraud Abatement Act.
AB 1104, as introduced, Chau. The California Political Cyberfraud Abatement Act.

Existing law makes it unlawful for a person, with intent to mislead, deceive, or defraud, to commit an act of political cyberfraud, as defined. Existing law defines the term “political cyberfraud” to include a knowing and willful act concerning a political Web site that is committed with the intent to deny a person access to a political Web site, deny a person the opportunity to register a domain name for a political Web site, or to cause a person reasonably to believe that a political Web site has been posted by a person other than the person who posted the Web site, and would cause a reasonable person, after reading the Web site, to believe the site actually represents the view of the proponent or opponent of a ballot measure. Existing law also defines the term “political Web site” to mean an Internet Web site that urges or appears to urge the support or opposition of a ballot measure.

This bill would modify the definition of the terms “political cyberfraud” and “political Web site” to include Internet Web sites that urge or appear to urge the support or opposition of candidates for public office. The bill would also make it unlawful for a person to knowingly and willingly make, publish or circulate on a Web site, or cause to be made, published, or circulated in any writing posted on a Web site, a false or deceptive statement designed to influence the vote on any issue submitted to voters at an election or on any candidate for election to public office.
What does the California Political Cyberfraud Abatement Act involve? Glad you asked.
SEC. 2.
Section 18320.5 is added to the Elections Code, to read:
18320.5.
It is unlawful for a person to knowingly and willingly make, publish or circulate on an Internet Web site, or cause to be made, published, or circulated in any writing posted on an Internet Web site, a false or deceptive statement designed to influence the vote on either of the following:
(a) Any issue submitted to voters at an election.
     (b) Any candidate for election to public office..
.
Can you imagine if such a law was passed? It would effectively outlaw NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, ESPN, PBS, THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE WASHINGTON POST, TIME, NEWSEEK, and just about every newspaper and broadcast outlet in America. And Democrats call Conservatives fascists? And Democrats call Conservatives totalitarians? Of course, the ironic truth is, that it would be nice if these outlets didn't report news that they knowingly and willingly knew was false and deceptive.  But who would judge this? The various Circuit Courts in America with their left leaning judges? If you don't think this is chilling, you are comfortable in a different temperature than I am comfortable with.

Attn: California:
Please succeed in your dreams of succession. Your sinking ship is going to doom us all. Many of your politicians belong either in the looney bin or in some communist, or socialist utopian bureaucracy.

I wasted another week, as I gained about a pound and half, and now am back up to 246.3 lbs.  It is true that my opportunities for walking/hiking were cut short by lack of opportunity... and one 14 mile hike on Friday does not erase a week of mostly inactivity...

CONGRESS VOTED TO REPEAL OBAMACARE

Yes, it is true, Congress voted to repeal Obamacare.  In fact, they voted many times to do this when President Barack Obama was sitting in the Oval Office. This phony show vote was to convince morons (conservative republicans) like me that if they were ever given the real opportunity to repeal this abhorrent law, they would. How surprised these low-lifes in Congress must have been on that Tuesday in November last year when a Republican was elected to the Presidency. Now these low-lifes could no longer walk around screaming how bad Obamacare is. They were charged with the responsibility to actually do something about it. Effective governing is not one of the strong assets of the Republican Congress. Guess what, we are doomed. We usually lose to the liberal lefties in national elections. We always have to fight the liberal lefties in government. Now we just lost to the highfalutin' conservative Republicans in Congress, who refused to support a (less-than-perfect) bill that would have begun to dismantle Obamacare. I was looking for this new administration to erase Obama. Perhaps, the conservative members of our Congress, just managed to erase themselves. November 2018 will not be an enjoyable night as Congress seeks re-election. There must have been great parties in Washington DC last night as Democrats watched Republicans commit political suicide.

House Passes Obamacare Repeal And Replace Bill In Spite Of Obama’s Protests

by James Beattie February 3, 2015 at 3:51pm

On Tuesday, the House voted to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. This is the first time the House attached a provision requiring that Congress replace President Obama’s health care law. The House voted Tuesday 239 to 186 on H.R. 596, which would not only repeal Obamacare but force Congress to also replace the health care law. Rep. Bradley Byrne, R-Ala., sponsored the legislation. It now heads to the Senate, where its future is uncertain. 60 votes are required for cloture, and there are only 54 Republicans in the new Senate. Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., was one of the first to get on the offensive ahead of the House vote supporting the Obamacare appeal. “Instead of Obamcare’s one-size-fits-all approach, we need to pursue consumer-driven reforms that put patients, not bureaucrats, in charge of health care decisions,” Coats said in a press release ahead of the vote Tuesday. “This legislation starts that process.” One interesting note: three Republicans voted against the Obamacare repeal. The names, as flagged by Heidi Pryzblya of Bloomberg, were Reps. Robert Dold of Illinois, John Katko of New York, and Bruce Poliquin of Maine. No Democrats voted for the repeal.

It did not take any courage to vote against a law where there was an absolute guarantee that the vote would have exactly 0.0% of passing or affecting the life of a single American.  The vote that did not occur on this past Thursday and Friday, would have begun the process to dismantle Obamacare.  And since there were not enough votes to pass this new legislation. There was no vote. My level of disappointment is off the charts. I believe that President Donald Trump has many times bemoaned the stupid politicians that run this country - was he surely proved correct this past week.  Let me be among the first to welcome back House Leader Nancy Pelosi. If there is not a giant reconsideration of the damage caused this week, the Republicans will lost the House in November 2018. And if that happens.... then what? Obamacare has no chance of being repealed? Aren't we there already?

REPEAL AND REPLACE OBAMACARE

This is directed at the high-minded, so-called conservatives, super moralistic Republicans in the United States House of Representatives. I understand that you think that the Healthcare Bill that you were supposed to vote on yesterday was less than perfect.  I agree with you. Now do your job and pass the thing today. Why do we need Democrats as the opposition party when Republicans are already the opposition party. Virtually every single Republican ran on the promise (for the past three elections) to repeal and replace Obamacare. Now do it. Because if you fail, Donald Trump fails, and if Donald Trump fails, America fails. And if America fails, it won't matter in 2018 who wins congressional seats in Congress. Do what you promised.

VOTING GUIDE FOR HOUSE REPUBLICANS

Today, the United States House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (you know this one, the one where the dishonest lying 44th President of the United States promised that if you liked your plan you could keep your plan and if you liked your doctor you could keep your doctor) Never had such a big lie, that affected so many people been so under reported by the media.

It appears that the vote today is far from assured. Apparently there are more than a few Republicans that feel that they cannot vote for any legislation that is not perfect. This is earth. Perfection is not achievable. Improvement is always within grasp.

I can offer a hint on how best to vote. If you are voting on the same side of an issue that Nancy Pelosi and every Democrat in the House is voting on (other than renaming a post office or equally vital legislation) - you can be reliably assured that you are on the wrong side of an issue. I can think of no circumstance where this would not be true.

In most cases, if you are on the same side of an issue as Nancy Pelosi - you might want to re-think your position
