BLUE WAVE IS COMING (DAY 100)

It was long suspected that there would be a BLUE WAVE on election night in America on Tuesday November 6th.  It turns out, a BLUE WAVE is on the way... Lost in all the election hullabaloo over the past few days, a Rolling Stones North American Tour has been not-so-much announced, but officially teased....

Bad Eating.
No exercise.
Not a good day.
And the Democrats take over the House.
An extremely bad day.
What a stupid way to mark Day 100 since I checked in at 283.6 lbs.
Oh well....tomorrow is another day....

INDIANA DUNES STATE PARK (DAY 61)

Saturday Morning.
The day I step on the scale.

I have lost 45.4 lbs since my disgust overwhelmed my fat lackadaisical slothful condition and made the decision, that enough was enough!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I only had one appointment in Northern Indiana on Friday morning.
So before heading home, I made a stop at Indiana Dunes.
It has been quite a long time since I have been to the Dunes.
When my hike was completed, I had trekked 14 miles.
When the day was over, I had completed my 61st consecutive day of low calorie consumption.
My definition of low calorie consumption has been what I describe as the 'neighborhood of 1000 calories'  During these past 61 days I think I have consumed as low as 800 calories in a day but nothing higher than 1400. That's the neighborhood that I have remained in for these past seven weeks.

I spotted a PRAYING MANTIS along the trail

.

During my hike I 'discovered' something that I was not aware of... There are five 'Homes of the Future' along the lake that were moved from the Chicago CENTURY OF PROGRESS World's Fair that took place 1933-1934.   I love discovering new things by accident.

IHOP

On Sunday morning, my daughter and I took a stroll to a neighborhood IHOP. There are plenty of places to find a quick and tasty breakfast in Chicago. We purposefully chose a place more than 3 miles from home. Naturally, we walked. I made a healthy choice of a ham and cheese omelette. Once we walked back home, it was time for me to jump in my car and head to Cincinnati so that I could be in front of a customer at 10:00AM Monday morning.

.

The thing of particular significance to me is that our 7.25 round-trip hike to IHOP on Sunday morning was not even our first jaunt of the day...

...My daughter and I have an agreement. I will never refuse an invitation to take a walk in the neighborhood. On Saturday night after midnight, which was technically Sunday Morning, we took a 4 mile stroll. This meant that our IHOP hike was our SECOND HIKE of the day. Well, you have to understand, the weather in Chicago has recently been spectacular, so this is the time of year to take advantage of that...

CONGRESS VOTED TO REPEAL OBAMACARE

Yes, it is true, Congress voted to repeal Obamacare.  In fact, they voted many times to do this when President Barack Obama was sitting in the Oval Office. This phony show vote was to convince morons (conservative republicans) like me that if they were ever given the real opportunity to repeal this abhorrent law, they would. How surprised these low-lifes in Congress must have been on that Tuesday in November last year when a Republican was elected to the Presidency. Now these low-lifes could no longer walk around screaming how bad Obamacare is. They were charged with the responsibility to actually do something about it. Effective governing is not one of the strong assets of the Republican Congress. Guess what, we are doomed. We usually lose to the liberal lefties in national elections. We always have to fight the liberal lefties in government. Now we just lost to the highfalutin' conservative Republicans in Congress, who refused to support a (less-than-perfect) bill that would have begun to dismantle Obamacare. I was looking for this new administration to erase Obama. Perhaps, the conservative members of our Congress, just managed to erase themselves. November 2018 will not be an enjoyable night as Congress seeks re-election. There must have been great parties in Washington DC last night as Democrats watched Republicans commit political suicide.

House Passes Obamacare Repeal And Replace Bill In Spite Of Obama’s Protests

by James Beattie February 3, 2015 at 3:51pm

On Tuesday, the House voted to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. This is the first time the House attached a provision requiring that Congress replace President Obama’s health care law. The House voted Tuesday 239 to 186 on H.R. 596, which would not only repeal Obamacare but force Congress to also replace the health care law. Rep. Bradley Byrne, R-Ala., sponsored the legislation. It now heads to the Senate, where its future is uncertain. 60 votes are required for cloture, and there are only 54 Republicans in the new Senate. Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., was one of the first to get on the offensive ahead of the House vote supporting the Obamacare appeal. “Instead of Obamcare’s one-size-fits-all approach, we need to pursue consumer-driven reforms that put patients, not bureaucrats, in charge of health care decisions,” Coats said in a press release ahead of the vote Tuesday. “This legislation starts that process.” One interesting note: three Republicans voted against the Obamacare repeal. The names, as flagged by Heidi Pryzblya of Bloomberg, were Reps. Robert Dold of Illinois, John Katko of New York, and Bruce Poliquin of Maine. No Democrats voted for the repeal.

It did not take any courage to vote against a law where there was an absolute guarantee that the vote would have exactly 0.0% of passing or affecting the life of a single American.  The vote that did not occur on this past Thursday and Friday, would have begun the process to dismantle Obamacare.  And since there were not enough votes to pass this new legislation. There was no vote. My level of disappointment is off the charts. I believe that President Donald Trump has many times bemoaned the stupid politicians that run this country - was he surely proved correct this past week.  Let me be among the first to welcome back House Leader Nancy Pelosi. If there is not a giant reconsideration of the damage caused this week, the Republicans will lost the House in November 2018. And if that happens.... then what? Obamacare has no chance of being repealed? Aren't we there already?

VOTING GUIDE FOR HOUSE REPUBLICANS

Today, the United States House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (you know this one, the one where the dishonest lying 44th President of the United States promised that if you liked your plan you could keep your plan and if you liked your doctor you could keep your doctor) Never had such a big lie, that affected so many people been so under reported by the media.

It appears that the vote today is far from assured. Apparently there are more than a few Republicans that feel that they cannot vote for any legislation that is not perfect. This is earth. Perfection is not achievable. Improvement is always within grasp.

I can offer a hint on how best to vote. If you are voting on the same side of an issue that Nancy Pelosi and every Democrat in the House is voting on (other than renaming a post office or equally vital legislation) - you can be reliably assured that you are on the wrong side of an issue. I can think of no circumstance where this would not be true.

In most cases, if you are on the same side of an issue as Nancy Pelosi - you might want to re-think your position

SETBACK

Last week the scale shouted back at me that I was 209 lbs.  I should have accused it of lying and moved on.  Perhaps I had exercised late on the previous Friday night and I had not completely rehydrated.  It matters not.  I suspected that it might be a little too good to be true and it was.  So here's the situation, I am apparently not down 100 lbs - I am only down 91 lbs.  And you know what, for all practical purposes - it's the same difference.  All my clothes fit me. Perhaps last week, the scale was showing something artificially low.  Surely this week the scale is showing something artificially high.  Perhaps I had 10,000 mg of salt this week and I am retaining water.  Honestly, I do not know.   I do not think it would have been possible to actually gain 9 lbs in one week if I had gorged myself on an all-you-can-eat cruise.  Maybe my scale is broken.  Maybe I had too much whiskey last evening, and my body has not got itself back into its normal equilibrium. What I do know, is that this 9 pound weight gain is not and can not be real.  Whatever variables are causing it will be wiped clean in a day or two.  That's my story - and I am sticking to it!  I feel great and I am happy about my progress.  The next stop on my journey is to seriously get to 209 lbs and make sure that the reading is legitimate. From there, I can see another 10 lbs need to be shed to just get under 200 lbs.  This is my goal.  This will happen.

. . . . . . . . . . . .

Walking has become a method of transportation for me.  I needed to go to the dentist today. In years past, I have either driven or taken the subway.  It had never occurred to me to walk the four miles.  Let me amend that, it had never occurred to me prior to yesterday morning.  I walked to 4.5 miles to the dentist.  Actually, I walked an additional half mile to log an even five miles.  (That is a mathematical oxymoron as five is not an even number, but I am sure you know what I mean)  After my dental work, I walked two miles to a Jason's Deli for lunch.  And after a quick stop at a nearby Whole Foods, I walked another four miles home.  When the day was over, I had logged 11 miles of walking at a very, very brisk pace.  It is so liberating to be able to use my own two feet as a method of transportation.
