CONSOLATION PRIZE

The dream of impeachment has been active since election night. The visceral hatred for Donald Trump has surprised me. Republican Presidents are always hated and ridiculed. Reagan was stupid. So was George W Bush. George Bush, 41, was a wimp. Nixon was a crook. Gerald Ford was uncoordinated and stupid. Conversely, Barack Obama was the most educated, most intelligent, best looking man who ever held the office. Bill Clinton was young and good-looking and smart. I can't remember what good things surely were said of Jimmy Carter. Back to Trump. The onslaught of hatred has been amazing. I suppose the media may be successful in damaging this guy just enough that he might just leave. That's the dream. Our consolation prize: Vice President Mike Pence. For that reason alone, perhaps the Democrats should ratchet down the noise a bit.

NO NEWS

This past weekend, I have basically avoided the news. I am assuming that Donald Trump is still President of the United States. With all the noise coming from the media earlier this week, in the wake of the James Comey firing, perhaps I should double-check. The weather in Chicago was finally, summer like, and I took a 12 mile urban hike zigging and zagging mostly through and around the Lincoln Park Zoo.

ELECTORAL COLLEGE

Today is the day that the Electoral College meets in state capitols all across this great country. They do this to cast their votes for President of the United States of America which should mirror the votes of the public in each state. Contrary to widely held misconceptions, and in no small part a perfect reflection of the teaching of fake facts to students, our country is not a democracy. We do not elect our leaders on the purely popular vote. We have a republic. We have a representative government. This would probably be news to most high school and college students. This should surprise no one, I am wiling to bet that most high school and college students would have difficulty naming the three branches of government. And just for the record, The New York Times is not one of the branches of our government. There are some very rich, deep pocketed dimwit democrats who have spent money running commercials urging republican electors to cast their votes for anyone but Donald Trump. It is no unlike the democrats to try to disenfranchise voters. Oh, did I just write that. That was a joke. Democrats will always try to disenfranchise voters if it serves their nefarious purposes. Since the election last month, I wake up each day to the promise of an America on the rebound. I do not share the opinion of the First Lady who announced last week that there is no hope in America. There is plenty of hope. California, you want to sucede?  I hope you succeed. Just make sure that you take all those America-hating lefties with you.

Attn: Stupid Lefty Libs, Pundits and fake news editors for major newspapers around the country:

We all know that you will be calling for the impeachment of Donald Trump early and often. Can you please do us all a favor, and at least wait until after the inauguration for these new demands.  Take a couple of weeks off from your lunacy.  Enjoy Christmas and/or Chanukah and/or Festivus or whatever else you celebrate. If you are purely secular, you still can wrap yourself around New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Give you hate a well-needed rest. You are going to need your energy next year when a Republican takes the reins of the government surrounded by capable adults ready to undo as much damage as possible inflicted upon us by the current president. They will be busy trying to fix things and you will be busy screaming about how this is the end of education, the end of society, the end of democracy and the end of the planet and the end of the universe.  Enjoy your vacation and come back all fired up with your hatred for the next four years. It is going to be a bumpy ride.
