HAUBSTADT, INDIANA (DAY 80)

Originally my daily countdown referred to the number of days that my caloric consumption was in the neighborhood of 1000 per day. That calorie consumption is far too low to maintain for too long. I have allowed myself to consume 2000 calories per day. This should be reasonable and sustainable. It is still difficult. I am doing my best. So Day 80 since I re-started my most recent successful weight  loss was similar to the 79 days that preceded it. I ate well (more-or-less) and I took a hike.

ANOTHER DAY 2000 CALORIES (DAY 79)

In general, a 2000 calorie daily consumption should be very compatible with some weight loss when combined with the level of activity that I have recently maintained, that is hikes averaging 7 miles per day.  However, that level may be harder and harder to maintain as the temperature drops and it gets darker earlier and earlier. Still, 2000 calories is still not exactly overdoing it for a guy who currently weighs 235 lbs. I should try to cut back more if I want to lose more weight which I do. At some point, I am going to have to master maintenance. This is not easy.

PIGEON CREEK GREENWAY PASSAGE TRAIL

Yesterday was a day to keep moving.
I woke up in Effingham, Illinois, and drove to Shelbyville, Illinois for my first appointment.
Afterwards I had to keep moving.
I left Shelbyville and drove across the state border to Evansville, Indiana for my afternoon appointment.
Afterwards I had to keep moving.
I drove to the Evansville waterfront on the Ohio River to hike the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage Trail. The trail was six miles from start to end, my return trip along Evansville neightborhood streets made the hike eleven miles.
Afterwards I had to keep moving.
I drove back to my hotel, quickly showered and at 10:35PM I walked across the street to a movie theater to watch Star Trek Beyond.
The showtime was listed as 10:45PM, the movie started precisely at 11:00PM, I was back in my hotel by 12:59AM.
This was the part of my day I could have skipped.
I am an enthusiastic fan of Star Trek.
I have very little enthusiasm for this movie.
The best part about this movie experience was that the price of the ticket was only $6.25 (senior discount)
Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage
The Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage is a planned walking/jogging/biking trail along the Pigeon Creek and the Ohio Riverfront.
A new favorite sign. How many thrill seekers or folks with suicidal tendencies have been stopped by reading this sign? I have been on many bridges, and this is the first time that I have spotted such a warning.

McALISTER'S DELI

Yesterday I visited a customer in Evansville, Indiana.  We have a tradition of going out to enjoy a Sushi lunch after all the buying is completed.   Sushi has always been, and will likely remain, my favorite food.   I am sure that if I was compelled to eat only one thing for the rest of my life and it was sushi - I'd be fine with that. (really fine) However, on the way to the store I passed a Jason's Deli.   Sushi can be purchased virtually anywhere.  Jason's Delis are a bit of a a treat as they are not ubiquitous in the states that I travel.

I mentioned this to my customer and she first proposed that we go to Jason's Deli as she sensed that I would prefer that.  But then she recommended yet another regional chain, much like Jason's Deli which until yesterday I had never heard of.

So yesterday was my first meal at a McAlister's Deli.   I had an Angus Club Sandwich with Chicken Tortilla Soup.  Everything was quite tasty.   I looked up McAlister's on the internet to find out a little bit more about chain.   This came from their own website:

Founded in 1989, McAlister’s® Deli is a fast casual restaurant chain known for our sandwiches, spuds, soups, salads, desserts and McAlister’s Famous Sweet Tea™. In addition to dine-in and take-out service, we also offer catering with a selection of sandwich trays, box lunches, desserts, a hot spud bar and more. With numerous industry accolades, the McAlister’s brand has 341 restaurants in 24 states.
It is very good to have another place where I can enjoy a good meal.   Who said eating 'on the road' was difficult?
