The O'Really Factor

America has been digesting the news all week that cable powerhouse, Bill O'Reilly, has been fired from FOX NEWS, after stories of huge out-of-court payouts were reported by The New York Times for sexual misconduct charges by various women over the past 15 years. Under pressure from lefty groups, virtually all advertisers dropped the program. There can be no commercial broadcast of a TV show without commercials. Once this happened the show was doomed. Just think back to all the millions of people who abandoned Bill Clinton when very serious charges of sexual misconduct were made against him. If you are having difficulty remembering that period, it is likely because that didn't happen. Liberals do not care what lefty progressives say or do as long as they vote the right way. Yes, I know, Anthony Weiner was the exception. Even he was too much for everybody - the second time.

Back to O'Reilly. The lefty progressive liberals are celebrating across America. I am not sure why. How does this change in anchors at FOX NEWS at 8:00PM Eastern Time change America? I did mostly enjoy watching O'Reilly over these past two decades. He surely was not a standard right wing conservative. He used to drive me nuts on occasion. He was happy to climb aboard the liberal progressive bandwagon when he blamed the 'evil' big oil companies for the rising prices at the gas pumps years ago. Apparently, the basics of Supply and Demand are not taught at Harvard where O'Reilly went to school. It is interesting to note that during the presidency of Barack Obama, gas prices fell quite a bit. Was this because of policies enacted by Obama? No, of course not. It was in spite of policies enacted by Barack Obama. I believe that the increasing levels of fracking and huge discoveries of natural gas led to energy price collapses around the world. ExxonMobil does not control the price of gasoline, in the same way that APPLE controls the price of an iPhone.  Liberal Bill O'Reilly did not understand that. Nevertheless, Bill O'Reilly did mostly appear to be conservative in his views and he was the face of FOX NEWS for 20 years. Since the lefty liberals hated FOX NEWS, they naturally hated Bill O'Reilly. Now O'Reilly is gone. Will FOX NEWS likewise disappear? You think so?  O'Really?

FOX RIVER TRAIL

Yesterday I drove 90 minutes to meet the new owner of a yarn shop that I had done business with in the past. I was eager to meet this young woman and her husband who are 'rolling the dice' and re-starting a retail yarn business. The amount of button business that was processed yesterday was not quite as much as I expected. I must admit I immensely enjoyed talking with this woman as we had one thing in common. We have both climbed to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite Park. It is my firm belief that only those that have completed this hike really know what those last 400 feet climbing up the cables is really all about. The shop will re-open under the new ownership in October, so there is a great possibility that this will become an important account for me in the future.  Once I finished at the yarn shop, it was time to 'take a hike.'  The Fox River Trail runs along the Fox River in St. Charles, Illinois and that was where I started. My hike had me starting, leaving and returning to the Fox River Trail for 5+ hours. First I headed north, and I took a bunch of 'side trips' before I crossed over the river and headed south. I traveled south beyond my starting point to Geneva, before I turned around and headed back to St. Charles where I began.  When I was done, I had hiked 22 miles.

My hike started on the Main Street Bridge in St. Charles, Illinois.  This sculpture stands guard over the Fox River.
This is the TrailHead in Geneva. At this point in my hike I was within steps of completing my 20th mile.
An artistic decorative fox stands guard in St Charles on the Fox River Trail.
The walkway for the RED GATE BRIDGE is under the roadway for automobile traffic.
Does it still count as a 'selfie' if the photo was taken with a 10 second timer?

Here I am about to cross the 'Historic Piano Factory Bridge' in St Charles

ONE HOUR = DAY OFF?

Perhaps only in the twisted world that I inhabit could a one hour workout be considered a day off from exercise. As I have explained, my need to exercise each day, is more mental than physical. I know that there would be benefits from taking at least one day off per week. I know a lot of things. Like many human beings, knowledge about what is best for me does not control what I do. In my experience on Earth, human beings are not always rational. Want proof? This is easy.  Here are three examples to prove that human being are not always rational, in no particular order.

1. Human Beings smoke cigarettes. That is irrational.
2. Human Beings use heroin, crack, and a myriad of other dangerous drugs. That is very irrational.
3. Human Beings support Bernie Sanders for President. That is just crazy.

Back to my point...I do not always behave rationally. This should come as no surprise to anyone, as anyone who can balloon up to 309 lbs does not do that with rationality ruling the day. Although my current weight is 220 lbs, my predilection for irrationality has not abandoned me. Yesterday was 'day off' of sorts.... I did utilize my home elliptical machine (but only for 45 minutes) and I augmented that with a quick 24 minutes on the treadmill. Compared to some of my more vigorous workouts, this one hour did seem like a day off...

THIS CRUISE IS HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

Last night was the penultimate debate prior to some actual votes being cast by actual human beings in   the Iowa Caucus in less than three weeks. I have noticed that more and more people have been jumping on the Ted Cruz bandwagon. I would like to welcome you aboard. Sure, Donald Trump has been fascinating to watch. The man will (and does) say anything that pops into his mind. There is much that he says that I agree with, but I am really put off by his grade school tactics... He speaks too much about frailties of his opponents and spends way too much time touting his good poll numbers. Ted Cruz spends time talking about issues. Ted Cruz is exactly what our current president was labeled, but is not. Ted Cruz actually is a Constitutional Scholar. And more importantly, he respects, reveres and loves the United States Constitution. That is my kind of guy. And just to show you, my readers, my friends, that I am not new to the Ted Cruz bandwagaon - I have depicted a posting from my personal facebook page posted way, way back on March 22, 2015 openly declaring my affinity for this man. March 22, 2015 was a long time ago. Do you know how long ago it was? Back then, I had already made much progress on my weight loss, but even then, I still weighed 235 lbs.

I announced my affinity for this man on March 22, 2015.  In the 10 months since his announcement,  my support for Ted Cruz has only intensified. The biggest intrigue these days is who will the Republican candidate be running against.  If Hillary Clinton is indicted for multiple felonies, as she surely should be, who will fill that void? Joe Biden? Al Gore? Elizabeth Warren? Governor Jerry Brown? Bernie Sanders? (c'mon....get serious!) John Kerry?  Who are the other 'titans' in the Democratic Party?
