BIPARTISAN DISHONESTY

Ask yourself this question this morning.  Do you agree with Donald Trump who changed United States policy and formerly recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel? If you hate Donald Trump, as approximately half of all Americans apparently do, you probably think this is reckless and yet another example of Trump's insanity. If you support Donald Trump, as approximately half of all Americans apparently do, including me, you probably think that he is keeping a campaign promise and that this decision is long overdue.

You see, if you are a reader of The New York Times, you probably don't know, as this dishonest newspaper does not spend too much time peddling truth, that this 'reckless' decision, this 'reckless' policy was promised by others in the past. No one really important of course, just random people. People like President Bill Clinton who I did not support, President George W Bush who I did support and President Barack Obama who I did not support. This is called bipartisan dishonesty.

Trump's a liar, eh? Give it rest.
He is among the most honest, trustworthy people sitting in the oval office in a very long time.

I wonder if the (dis)Honorable Senator from Minnesota supports this policy regarding Israel. It appears that it may not matter what the heck this moron thinks by dinnertime tonight.  Apparently Franken may be 'retiring' from the Senate to protect his 'legacy' much like Congressman John Conyers did a few days ago. Hey, Al, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

On Jerusalem, Donald Trump ended a quarter century of lies

Recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has long been a bipartisan policy goal.

.

.
President Trump’s announcement that he will recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has ignited a firestorm of protest. What’s disingenuous about the histrionic response is the capital’s move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is a longstanding goal of U.S. policy that once had bipartisan support.
When running for president 25 years ago, Bill Clinton promised to “support Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel.” President George W. Bush criticized Clinton for not following up on that commitment, but then W failed to make good on his too. During Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, he stated that, “we should move our embassy to Jerusalem” but never recognized the city as the capital once he was elected.
The difference now, whether one loves or hates Trump, is that people across the political spectrum are going berserk because he is moving to fulfill his campaign promise on this issue after the three previous presidents lied about it to win office. As Trump moves forward to expand a travel ban and chip away at Obamacare’s individual mandate, an awkward reality is beginning to emerge that a president many voters view as untrustworthy might actually be the most reliable when it comes to following through on his word.
That Trump is only doing what four presidents in a row said they would do regarding Jerusalem hasn’t diminished the controversy. Turkey’s dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the move amounted to a “red line” that could not be crossed, warned that Ankara may cut off diplomatic relations with Israel and called for a summit of Islamic nations to fight against it.
Influential Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein is advising against recognizing Jerusalem as the capital despite voting for a resolution supporting that policy only six months ago.
There is even flack raining down from some of the president’s earliest supporters. “Trump 2020 campaign slogan: ‘OK, I didn’t build the wall… but I did recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital!’ #HowToWinTheWorkingClass,” tweeted Ann Coulter, who wrote the book In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome! last year.
There are legitimate reasons Jerusalem is one of the most fought over scraps of land anywhere. It is the focal point of conflict between Muslims and Jews in the Middle East, and the location of Israel’s capital represents a battle in the larger war over the right of Israel to exist and the concept of a Jewish state.
The late rebel leader Yasser Arafat vowed, “The victory march will continue until the Palestinian flag flies in Jerusalem and in all of Palestine,” and the crowd at his rallies would chant, “All of Jerusalem is Arab; the entire land is Arab.”
Donald Trump was elected on a confrontational, populist platform that doesn’t fit easily into the two-party system, which operates within the comfortable confines of the status quo. Recognizing Jerusalem is consistent with this president’s agenda to be a purposeful disrupter of the stale, hypocritical status quo that brought him to power.

Apparently Barack Obama was misquoted about his support of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. He was misquoted by none other than himself. Barack Obama is a liar. Do you remember when the reason he was against gay marriage was because it was against the teaching of his religion, Christianity. Apparently Christianity changed right after Obama was elected. Barack Obama is a liar.

JERUSALEM IS THE CAPITAL OF ISRAEL

In a switch of official United States policy, the President of the United States of America will officially announce that the US will recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.  It is not just a city in the 'Middle East' as wikipedia reports. It is a city, it is the capital city of Israel. When I voted for Donald Trump, I liked virtually every policy he advocated. Even I didn't believe that he would remember or even try to fulfill half of these promises. He has surprised me. There is great irony in that he is accused of often being a liar (Sure, he exaggerates a lot.) The real truth is that he is the most honest politician that I have seen in recent years. Every day, as the lefties are driven crazier and crazier by this world leader, people like me becoming more and more grateful that this is the guy in charge of our great nation.  Starting later today, Wednesday, December 6, 2017 the United States of America will recognize that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.  One man is responsible for this change in policy - His name is Trump, Donald Trump.

CHANUKAH

Chanukah / חנוכה
Hanukkah (Hebrew: חֲנֻכָּה, usually spelled חנוכה pronounced [χanuˈka] in Modern Hebrew, also romanized as Chanukah or Chanuka), also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple (the Second Temple) in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt of the 2nd century BCE. Hanukkah is observed for eight nights and days, starting on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar.
Chanukah begins at sundown on Sat, 24 December 2016.
.

Rededication. Am I ever in need of a rededication! This morning I weighed myself and I have reached 239.3 lbs. I was just weighed two days ago in the doctor's office and they noted my weight as 234.3 lbs. This does not mean that I gained five pounds in two days. It does mean that my scale is imperfect. However, by using the same scale to mark my progress (or lack of progress) I can still get a good idea of my success (or lack of success) in managing my weight. I am in need of a rededication to progress. Especially today, December 24th, 2016.  THIS IS THE DAY, EXACTLY TWO YEARS AGO, when this whole weight loss and weight loss management began. Two days later, on December 26, 2014 I started this blog.  I remind myself today, for not the first time, that just because I do not enter a food, cake or sweet into my daily food journal does not mean that it didn't happen. I am pretty good about not failing to record my daily exercise, but I am definitely more imprecise when it comes to logging all my foods. I need to find the person that I was two years ago and re-summon the willpower to be successful once again.  I have heard that today is Christmas Eve too.  So to everyone and anyone who is reading this today - Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah!

The first 1.5 miles of this walk was with my daughter, as I escorted her to a spot where she was meeting some friends. All I had to do was promise to keep out of sight once we neared the rendezvous point.  What teenage girl wants to be seen with her dad when she is meeting up with her friends?  Perhaps there are such girls, my daughter is not one of them.
