HELLO WINTER

Perhaps the days of hiking in a short sleeved shirt and shorts has just ended. Two days ago, I was hiking under cloudy skies with the threat of rain, and yet I comfortably wore shorts and a short sleeved shirt. Yesterday, the weather seemed to have cooled down a lot! I was wearing long sweats, a long sleeved shirt, a long sleeved jacket and I longed for a pair of gloves. It was only 50°F, but it seemed much colder.  It appears that summer is over, Hello Winter.

SHARON WOODS

It had been too long since I had actually taken a hike in actual woods on an actual trail. That drought ended yesterday when I 'discovered' that within a half mile of my hotel was Sharon Woods Park. I hiked along a gorge, I hiked around a lake. This hike would have been a bit better if it hadn't taken place in a cold persistent light rain. Still I was glad to be outdoors.

LION'S HEAD TRAIL

I was with my Mom and brother and his wife visiting their home on October 1. My sister-in-law suggested a local favorite hike which we did. Once we finished and headed on in the car, I was dropped off about six miles shy of their home and hiked another six miles.
