19th NERVOUS BREAKDOWN

I have not had a 19th nervous breakdown.
I have had no nervous breakdowns.
I am invoking this Rolling Stones tune to bring attention to the 19th day of low calorie eating.

I FORGOT TO REMEMBER TO FORGET

Sure, our society is in a slow steady decline (That's bad.)
My weight, however, is also in a slow steady decline. (That's good.)
Even this week, when I had prepared myself for a negative result, that is, a weight gain, I lost an additional 1.4 lbs. You see, during the past week, which included three nights in Houston, I forgot to remember to forget to log all the 'bar snacks' I was freely munching on while hanging with my colleagues. I only had three adult beverages during my entire Houston excursion, but I might have had many hundreds of calories of chips, nuts, whatever else a bar sticks into a bowl of free thirst inducing snacks. I knew that I 'might' have neglected to account for all of those calories. Apparently, my exercise during the past week was able to erase much of these indulgences. Just like I forgot to remember to forget to include the extra Halloween Candy that floats around this time of year - usually available at all kinds of retail stores.

Nevertheless, the new weight for me today is 235.4 lbs

Considering the fact that my stupidity allowed me to reach 263.3 lbs on August 26, just ten weeks ago, I have every reason to be happy about my progress.

Regarding the slow steady decline in our society... That is not going to be so easy to reverse.

2120 SOUTH MICHIGAN AVENUE

Yesterday while my car was being serviced, I had time to take a hike in Chicago. I set out with one specific spot that I wanted to visit: 2120 South Michigan Avenue.  Sharp-eyed readers of this blog may recognize this as the title of a Rolling Stones song, which it is. It is also the address of the legendary CHESS RECORDS recording studio.

CHICAGO LANDMARK, 2120 SOUTH MICHIGAN AVENUE

from wikipedia...
Chess Records was an American record company, founded in 1950 in Chicago and specializing in blues and rhythm and blues. Over time it expanded into soul music, gospel music, early rock and roll, and occasional jazz and comedy recordings, released on the Chess, Checker, Argo, and Cadet labels. The Chess catalogue is currently owned by Universal Music Group and managed by Geffen Records.
Founded and run by Polish immigrant brothers Leonard and Phil Chess, the company produced and released many singles and albums regarded as central to the rock music canon. The musician and critic Cub Koda described Chess as "America's greatest blues label."
Chess was based at several different locations on the south side of Chicago, initially at two different locations on South Cottage Grove Ave. The most famous location was 2120 S. Michigan Avenue from around 1956 to 1965, immortalized by British rock group the Rolling Stones in "2120 South Michigan Avenue", an instrumental recorded there during the group's first U.S. tour in 1964. The Stones recorded at Chess Studios on two more occasions. The building is now the home of Willie Dixon's Blues Heaven Foundation. In the mid-1960s, Chess re-located to a much larger building, at 320 E. 21st St., the label's final Chicago home.

On their first US tour in 1964, the Rolling Stones made a pilgrimage to Chicago. “2120 South Michigan Avenue was hallowed ground,” writes Keith Richards in his 2010 autobiography. “There in the perfect sound studio, in the room where everything we’d listened to was made…we recorded fourteen tracks in two days. One of them was… ‘It’s All Over Now,’ our first number one hit.”
.

THE ROLLING STONES are scheduled to release a new studio CD of  all BLUES COVERS in December of 2016.

Before I arrived at 2120 South Michigan Avenue, I enjoyed the view from  Adler Planetarium.  I couldn't decide whether I liked the picture with me wearing sunglasses or not wearing sunglasses - so I posted them both.

ONE WEIGH STREET

ONE WAY STREET is a song by Aerosmith, written by Steven Tyler.  ONE WAY STREET dates back to their 1973 self-titled debut album,  Aerosmith.

Weight changes do not take place on one way streets although sometimes it can seem that way especially when one it tacking on the pounds.  Unlike one way streets in the real world, one can always make a U-Turn to change the direction of weight changes.  All it takes is desire and a plan.  Navigating a course of losing weight is also does not take place a one way street.  One has to be careful that a U-Turn is NOT made, as there are many forces are always trying to steer one away from the chosen direction.

If you are headed in the wrong direction,  you can always make a U-TURN.

218.9 lbs

I weigh 218.9 lbs.
I gained 2.9 lbs this week.

I lost 90.1 lbs in 171 days. Today begins Day 172.
I have lost 14 inches from my waist.
I will always be at the beginning of a journey that never ends.
I weigh 218.9 lbs. (171 days ago I weighed 309 lbs)
I have lost 29.2% of my weight since Dec 24.
Considering how different my calorie count has been - eating much larger portions of still mostly nutritious foods - I am satisfied.  I must consider cutting back just a bit to continue to lose weight.
I have a BMI, body mass index of 29.28 (far away from obesity!)
I had a 42.0 BMI on 12.24.14 just 171 days ago (Class III obesity)
I wonder about achieving a 'normal weight' - the charts say 186.8 lbs - I'm not too sure about that...
I know this, regardless of what the BMI charts show - Marc Jacobs is no longer a fat man!
I have two words to describe how I feel right now - get focused!

...I know how to begin this week...
32 minutes ELLIPTICAL, but before that... I will take the elevator to the ground floor and climb up 25 flights of stairs to the fitness room...
