26.2 MILE MARATHON

Friday was the 54th consecutive day that my caloric intake was in the neighborhood of 1000.
It was another day of intensive walking...
I walked a 'marathon'
In the morning I set out for a long walk and logged 13 miles.
In the afternoon I needed to get to my daughter's high school to drop something off, 4 miles.
In the evening, I walked to the High School Football game where my daughter cheerleads, 5 miles
Walked home from the football game, 4.2 miles
TOTAL MILES WALKED 26.2
I AM NUTS.
(so don't bother telling me)

SATURDAY IS THE DAY I WEIGH MYSELF.....

DAY 53

I am sounding like a broken record. I know that.
Another day in the neighborhood of 1000 calories.
Another day when a 'walk' for exercise was accomplished.
I want this broken record to continue for at least a few weeks more.
Once I get it in my mind NOT to be a FAT PIG as I certainly was on July 31 (283.6 lbs) I am focused.
I am enjoying being a far-skinnier pig, as I am now, about 248 lbs...
And the goal is to NOT be a pig at all.

THAT WAS FAST (DAY 52)

That was fast.
I walked to Synagogue for morning Yom Kippur Services.
I took the scenic way home.
When this round-trip walk was done, I had walked 20 miles.
While fasting.
no food.
no water.
I wasn't walking particularly fast, but I did cover some ground.

For the 47th consecutive day, my caloric consumption was in the neighborhood of 1000.
Saturday is the day that I weigh myself to gauge my progress.

DAY 35

Sunday September 2 was Day 35 of Exreme Low Calorie consumption.

After my 18 mile urban hike on Saturday, I was sure that I would walk very little, if at all, on Sunday.
When I ventured out around 2PM, I found that I was feeling pretty good and I logged 6 miles.

SEPTEMBER STARTS WELL

September 1 was Day 34 on my drastically reduced caloric consumption plan.
This is turning into a sushi diet, I have had sushi for lunch or dinner many times.
I expected to take a significant walk on Saturday.
By the time I had finished, I had longest 18 miles.
It was longest urban hike since my Long Beach hike back on December 27, 2017 on Long Island.
.
I would like to say that this extra long 18 mile hike felt great.
And it kinda did....
But when I had a sushi meal and got up to walk home the four tenths of a mile, I was hobbling like an old man...
This is often how I feel after one of my extended hikes... so no worries there.
.
I do know this, in late July when my weight catapulted over 280 pounds, I was finding it difficult to walk half a block... so I can safely say that I have completely eradicated that very lame condition.
.
I think on Sunday, I might not walk at all... or I might walk just two miles or so..... just to keep my legs loose...

SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES

Day 13: mindful eating, calorie count 850
First time since February, I walked 10 miles.
First time since February, I logged 25000 steps.
First time since I can't remember when...
...when I had the nerve to post a selfie
Things are happening....
...Right now...
SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES

It's been quite a while since I had the guts to take a selfie... this is what a nearly 61 year old man at 271lbs looks like after walking 10 miles on a hot summer day in August after a six month hiatus. The ten mile urban hike was no small achievement. Two weeks ago, right about when I was finally freaking out my ballooning weight, I found it painful to walk half a block. I was seriously nervous that maybe that my urban hiking days were in my rear-view mirror. All it took was losing about ten pounds to regain the confidence to walk again. It probably didn't help that two weeks ago I did not own anything comfortable enough to get out and walk. Things are happening.  Seems like old times.

.
I didn't break any speed records on this ten mile hike... It took nearly 3 hours

I WEIGHED MYSELF SUNDAY MORNING.   271.0 LBS
DOWN NEARLY 13 LBS IN 13 DAYS.
I do know one thing, how to kick-start a weight loss regiment into high gear once I decide to begin.
