PLYMOUTH, INDIANA (DAY 60)

After scooting into Ohio for one day, I was back in Indiana by late Thursday afternoon.
I arrived at my hotel in Plymouth, Indiana just before dark.
Undeterred, I changed by clothes, grabbed my headlamp and flashlight and set out for a hike.
When I returned, I had logged 7 miles.
My caloric consumption, could arguably be said to be in the neighborhood of 1000.
And that was that.
DAY 60
One more day, and I get to weigh myself on Saturday morning...

DAY 18 IN THE ZONE

DAY 18.
I ATE LIGHTLY.
I TOOK A RATHER MODEST 3 MILE WALK IN THE EVENING.
A PERFECT DAY.

It has been a very, very long time since I have looked forward to weighing myself on a Saturday morning. I know how this works, even with all my good eating this week, it is possible that the result on Saturday will be underwhelming.  No matter.  Whatever the results... I press on.

I can no longer stand being a fat pig.
18 days ago I weighed 283.6 lbs.
I am guessing that my weight will register somewhere in the high 260's on Saturday.
Still a fat pig, but less so.

The truth is...It is amazing how much better I feel already....
Perhaps that is not shocking... I have not had any sweets for 18 days.
I have not had any snacks for 18 days.
I have not overeaten for 18 days.
and somehow, I am not starving myself either.

I am 'in the zone'
I have been in this zone a few times in my life...
It's like when a baseball player gets 'hot' and bats .400, hits a bunch of homers all in the space of a few weeks... That's a guy 'in the zone.'

As I define it, I am in the zone.
I would like to stay here for a bit longer.

.
I should have skipped the yogurt... I was trying to add just a tiny bit of variety to my diet... but look at all that unnecessary SUGAR I added... If I am going to have so much SUGAR, I might as well have an ice-cream or some OREO COOKIES!

SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES

Day 13: mindful eating, calorie count 850
First time since February, I walked 10 miles.
First time since February, I logged 25000 steps.
First time since I can't remember when...
...when I had the nerve to post a selfie
Things are happening....
...Right now...
SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES

It's been quite a while since I had the guts to take a selfie... this is what a nearly 61 year old man at 271lbs looks like after walking 10 miles on a hot summer day in August after a six month hiatus. The ten mile urban hike was no small achievement. Two weeks ago, right about when I was finally freaking out my ballooning weight, I found it painful to walk half a block. I was seriously nervous that maybe that my urban hiking days were in my rear-view mirror. All it took was losing about ten pounds to regain the confidence to walk again. It probably didn't help that two weeks ago I did not own anything comfortable enough to get out and walk. Things are happening.  Seems like old times.

.
I didn't break any speed records on this ten mile hike... It took nearly 3 hours

I WEIGHED MYSELF SUNDAY MORNING.   271.0 LBS
DOWN NEARLY 13 LBS IN 13 DAYS.
I do know one thing, how to kick-start a weight loss regiment into high gear once I decide to begin.
