HIATUS

I am not going to blog every day anymore. First of all, my weight loss blog has recently turned into a weight gain blog. It has also turned very political. Maybe I crank up a new political blog in the future, as I have enjoyed railing against all those things that I rail on about. I am also not shutting down my blog. I think I will blog on those days that I actually 'do' something interesting. For me, interesting things include hiking in some new place, or taking an extra long hike close to home. That's my current plan. Regarding my weight, which began at 309 lbs on December 24, 2014 and fell 90 pounds at one point, I am currently hovering around 250 lbs. This is still nearly 60 pounds less than my starting weight, but far from my best weight. At some point, I need to get back to where I was one year ago, but not where I was nearly three years ago.  In conclusion, my blog is going to continue, but it will not be every day. Other than my Mom and a couple of brothers, a friend in New York and friends in Pennsylvania and San Francisco, I am not too sure who cares. But that's the story for now... See you soon, but likely not tomorrow.

This is my 890th post. I have so far, accumulated 87,230 pageviews.... So it is clear that someone has been reading this stuff. I am definitely going to blog a few times per month, but I am releasing myself from the self-imposed obligation of posting daily.

WHAT COMEY'S AROUND GOES AGROUND

The news of the day is the news that President Donald Trump has fired FBI Director, James Comey. Many people find this a perfectly rational outcome which this erratic director has richly earned. Democrats, unreasonably and expectedly, find this some kind of coup d'état. Back in July when James Comes laid out a convincing case during a press conference explaining why Hillary Clinton needed to be indicted, he switched gears at the very end and said that he was recommending that no indictment take place. Democrats cheered. Republicans listened with utter disbelief. A week or so before the election, James Comes struck again. He announced that the Hillary Clinton investigation was being re-opened. Republicans cheered. Democrats listened with utter disbelief.  James Comes is gone. Good Riddance.

FINALLY, A REVERSAL

Although this week, the 9th District Circuit Court of the United States failed to reverse the decision of the activist judge who stayed Trump's executive order limiting travel from 7 countries, I was a bit more successful in reversing the direction of my recent weight.

Finally, after weeks of slowing progressing in the wrong direction, I did manage to lose 2 lbs over the past week. Of course, I am not happy that even now, I am tipping the scale at 243.2 lbs. However, if I remind myself what I weighed when I started this little trip, which was 309 lbs, I can scratch out some solace.

SHORT LIVED RELIEF FROM A NIGHTMARE

I had been napping on Saturday afternoon with the TV on. I dreamt that Justice Antonin Scalia had passed away. I remember thinking, that this was extremely bad news for the conservative movement and amazingly bad news for America. I was still dreaming, when I dreamt that I had woken up and that this was not true. What a nightmare I thought. It was a great relief. Sadly, my dream actually ended when I really did wake up and learned that this news was true. I hope that what Senator Mitch McConnell said is true: that the next Supreme Court justice will be picked by the next President of the United States. God help us if that President is Hillary Clinton or self-described socialist, and full-time looney tune, Bernie Sanders. God help us if it is Donald Trump.  Trump has already indicated that he thinks his own sister would be a worthy selection. God Help us if Jeb Bush should get (somehow) elected. The Bush family does not always have a good track record with these things [Justice David Souter, Justice (Obamacare penalty is a tax, except when it is not, but it sometimes is a fine, except when it is not a fine - but a tax) John Roberts].  There is only one man who can be trusTED to make this selection.  His last name is CRUZ. Antonin Scalia was a national treasure. His opinions will be read for decades to come - that is, if we can hold onto this Republic which increasingly is sliding into fascism by the lefties who love diversity of skin color and HATE DIVERSITY OF THOUGHT.

Justice Antonin Scalia, National Treasure
INTELLECTUAL GIANT, NEVER REALLY LOOKED LIKE A FITNESS ENTHUSIAST

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Saturday that the Senate should wait until a new president is elected to confirm a replacement for Justice Antonin Scalia, whose sudden death Saturday shook Washington and threatened to reshape the 2016 presidential race.
Democrats said that with 11 months left in President Obama’s tenure, the Senate has enough time — and indeed an obligation — to confirm a replacement. Sen. Harry Reid, the top Democrat in the chamber, said it would be “shameful” to put off a replacement that long.
I am hoping that Mitch McConnell has the 'marbles' needed to make good on this statement. Regarding what Harry Reid said would be shameful. Harry Reid himself is shameful.  I am still waiting for him to explain who told him that Romney failed to pay his income taxes. When has Reid apologized for that shameful lie?
