APRIL CANCELED

from axios.com

America's grimmest month

by Caitlin Owens

President Trump asked Americans to continue social distancing until April 30, officials warned that tens or even hundreds of thousands of Americans could die — and that's the least depressing scenario.
Why it matters: April is going to be very hard. But public health officials are in agreement that hunkering down — in our own homes — and weathering one of the darkest months in American history is the only way to prevent millions of American deaths.
The big picture: Because of early missteps by the Trump administration, the virus has already spread widely throughout the United States, undetected, and the number of cases in most major U.S. cities has skyrocketed.
  • We now must wait for the virus to run its course among those who are already sick, or have recently been exposed and fall ill in the next few days.
  • Even though the administration is urging adherence to its social distancing guidelines, many states still haven't shut down nonessential businesses or issued shelter-in-place orders, meaning the virus is still likely spreading in these areas.
By the numbers: Estimates now being echoed by the Trump administration have found that the U.S. coronavirus outbreak will peak in two weeks.
  • Deborah Birx, who's coordinating the White House coronavirus response, mentioned by name a model by the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation that predicts the demand for hospital beds and supplies — including ventilators — will far exceed supply on April 14.
  • On that day, 2,341 coronavirus deaths are expected in a single day.
  • The model predicts that 81,000 Americans will die over the next four months, and that's assuming strong adherence to social distancing measures.
The alternative is worse. Without social distancing, as many as 2.2 million Americans could die, Trump said yesterday — the number of deaths predicted by a report releasedearlier this month.
Between the lines: Even though the federal government and private companies are scrambling to manufacture more medical supplies, even under miraculous scenarios, it's too late to manufacture our way out of the shortages that are predicted over the next few weeks.
  • But health care workers and the federal government are getting creative with ways to stretch a limited supply, through measures like sanitizing and reusing masks and finding ways to use a single ventilator for more than one patient.
The bottom line: We should all expect the same harrowing stories from hospitals in Italy and China to be replicated here. At the same time, we'll be wading into uncharted economic territory.
  • And yet, we've never all had such an important role to play, as individuals, in mitigating a national crisis: staying home, and stopping the spread.

TOUGH BREAK, LEFTIES...

The lefties, liberals, Democrats and confused Republicans were disappointed to learn yesterday that the President of the United States is not suffering from dementia. Trump has something far rarer: guts, nerves of steel, balls or cojones. He simply does not care what the hateful press and TV 'comics' think about him. Trump's support comes from real Americans. Tough Break, lefties... my president, in fact, your president is not suffering from dementia. I know that you are disappointed. May I suggest you find your safe space, grab your Play-doh and pet a llama until you can feel better.

White House physician Ronny Jackson told reporters that he hadn't planned to perform a cognitive assessment of Trump, but the president specifically asked him to in order to put rumors to rest about his mental health

Trump has NO dementia: White House doctor says president had a perfect 30/30 score on cognitive screening test that Trump REQUESTED

  • White House has been beset with claims that the president is mentally impaired
  • Charges were leveled in 'Fire and Fury' book by author who says most of Trump's close aides fear he's not mentally capable to be president
  • Navy doctor Ronny Jackson examined Trump on Friday and added a cognitive screening test to the regimen because the president asked him to
  • Trump scored perfect 30 out of 30 on the test, ruling out Alzheimer's Disease or other cognitive impairment
  • Jackson said this was the first time a sitting president has been given such a cognitive examination

President Donald Trump's recent medical examination showed no indication of cognitive impairment or dementia, according to the physician who conducted and supervised it.
His White House physician, U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson, added what he called 'a screening assessment for cognitive impairment' to Trump's annual health assessment. It resulted in a perfect score.
Based on his daily observations of the president, Jackson said, a mental screening would not normally be recommended.
But Trump himself asked for the test, he told reporters Tuesday at the White House.

'I had absolutely no concerns about his cognitive ability or his – you know, his neurological function. So I was not going to do a cognitive exam. I had no intention of doing one,' Jackson recalled.
'The reason that we did the cognitive assessment is, plain and simple, because the president asked me to do it.'
'He came to me and he said, "Is there something we can do, a test or some type of screening that we can do, to assess my cognitive ability?" And so I looked into it,' Jackson said.
Trump scored a perfect 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a standard test that helps primary care physicians spot early-onset Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of dementia.
Jackson said the test is 'sensitive enough' to identify any potential problems.

HERE COMES THE JUDGE

This is my prediction: Judge Roy Moore will win the election in Alabama. I refuse to believe that the voters of Alabama are so stupid as to hand this Senate seat to a democrat automaton who will support every leftist dream of Chuck Schumer.  The election is Tuesday. Today is Monday morning. I guess we will all know by Tuesday evening if my prediction has come to pass.

SINCERE IGNORANCE AND CONSCIENTIOUS STUPIDITY

I have been thinking about the left lately. Why are they acting so crazy? I was thinking about the expression that goes something like: There is nothing more dangerous than a wounded animal. The Democrats, the democratic party, the left has been badly wounded in the wake of 8 years of our previous president. Our young, good-looking leader maintained his popularity over eight years even though virtually every time that voters had a chance to express their opinions about his actual policies they overwhelmingly rejected them. The Democrat party has been wiped out of state legislatures, the Democrat party has been greatly reduced in the number of governorships, and they lost their majority in the Senate and the House of Representatives under the leadership of the 44th President of the United States. They are mad. And the definition of mad that I am using is the one that is more associated with crazy rather than angry - although both work. I found this quote (below) from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. which expresses how I think about my political opponents. Surely they think  the same of me. And that's where we are in America today. Each side thinks the other side is ignorant and dangerous. It is hard to see how this ends amicably. The last Civil War in the United States ended after much bloodshed. Are we better than those Americans?  Are we smarter than those Americans who needed a war and military defeat and military victory to settle differences? I see little evidence that that is the case.

CIRCUS MAY BE FOLDING, BUT NOT THE CIRCUS COURT

A few weeks ago, the Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Circus announced that it was folding its tents. Sadly the United States 9th Circus Court of Appeals will be continuing indefinitely. Yesterday, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, known as the Circus Court of Appeals upheld the stay of  President' Trump's temporary travel ban, a completely lawful, Constitutional restriction.  I figure if Liberal Democrat Harvard  Law Professor Allen Dershowitz thinks that this was a bad decision, not based on Constitutional Law, that is enough proof for me. Oh yeah, the circus is back in town.
