GENUINE FAKE NEWS

To all of you lefties out there who keep your head buried in the sand and refuse to acknowledge the existence of honest-to-goodness genuine fake news from the dishonest media, here's the latest example. The two Morning Joe nitwits (Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski) on MSNBC (National Broadcasting Company subsidiary) aired a news show, the Morning Joe on Friday morning. Each day during the week this live moronic show is watched by braindead Americans in search of their morning fix of Republican bashing. On this day, both hosts talked about their Thanksgiving dinner on the previous day.  Then they went about their normal daily activities of bashing our President. One snafu emerged. This was a taped segment. MSNBC aired something that they tried to pawn off a a live broadcast when it was taped. Can you get more fake than that? Democrats are not hampered by the flow of time, the flow of history of the flow of facts to report news and draw conclusions. Here is another example: Former FBI Director, James Comey wrote a memo exonerating Hillary Clinton from the illegal email/server investigation BEFORE the investigation was completed. Any problems with that? For people with a functioning mind, there might be yes. For others, probably no.

‘Morning Joe,’ did you really just pretape your post-Thanksgiving banter?

.
The hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” did the usual day-after Thanksgiving kibitzing on the air on Friday morning, telling viewers about their turkey dinners and mentioning the big football game the night before. One problem: None of those things had actually happened at the time Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Co. started talking about them. The program that aired Friday morning was taped Wednesday, but made to look and sound as if it was airing live. “Morning Joe” airs live on MSNBC five days a week. It features discussions of breaking or very recent news events. Friday’s program had all the earmarks of a typical “Morning Joe” and few viewers seemed to notice that it wasn’t happening in real time. MSNBC offered no announcement or statement to viewers that it was a taped program. The only indirect clue was at the bottom of the screen: The “Live” graphic that normally appears was removed. The rest was cooked up to appear as if it was happening in real time. Brzezinski opened the program by saying, “Day after Thanksgiving! Hoo! I’m stuffed.” The second segment picked up the after-holiday theme. “I always cook the turkey with the guts in it!” Brzezinski said. “Joe didn’t notice. He ate the bag,” quipped co-host Willie Geist, pretending Scarborough had consumed Brzezinski’s theoretical turkey. “It was good!” Scarborough said. He added, “Well, you know, the game made up for it . . .” Scarborough then turned to Rick Tyler, an MSNBC contributor who was Sen. Ted Cruz’s campaign spokesman. “How was your Thanksgiving?” he asked. “Very successful,” responded Tyler. “Although the conversations were interesting.” “I bet!” said Brzezinski. The panel then swung into a discussion of the pedophile controversy surrounding Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore. The illusion that the discussion was live was fostered by the news crawl at the bottom of the screen, which was added over the taped discussion, and a clock showing the time in various time zones. The hosts never got around to talking about Friday morning’s biggest story, the deadly terrorist attack on a mosque in Egypt — because it hadn’t happened yet when they taped. The crawl mentioned it. An MSNBC spokeswoman declined to comment. But an executive confirmed that the program wasn’t live. “There was no intention to trick viewers,” she said. “Would it have helped if there was a disclaimer” referencing it as a delayed broadcast? “Maybe. But that’s not typically done.” As is, she said, “They’re having fun” with the pretense that it’s live. A longtime viewer of the program noticed that Friday’s edition had none of the usual discussion of breaking news and contacted The Washington Post to inquire if “Morning Joe” was presenting “fake news.” He said he was surprised to see Scarborough and Brzezinski appearing in a New York studio on the Friday after Thanksgiving. “I was quite flabbergasted by the way they were so deceptive about this . . . especially when they are always so quick to castigate lying [or] deception they attribute to others,” said the viewer, who asked not to be identified. Scarborough and Brzezinski have engaged in a long-running feud with President Trump over many issues, including the president’s veracity. The hostilities seemed to crest in June when Trump attacked the couple in an early-morning tweet in which he criticized Brzezinski’s appearance.

России железная дорога

России железная дорога is the translation for RUSSIAN RAILWAY if 'google translate' can be trusted. This was the fitbit badge that I earned on Wednesday.

One year ago, on Thanksgiving day, I decided that I was starting a new tradition. It is fairly easy to start a tradition, it is much more difficult to keep a tradition. The tradition that I started last year was a 20 mile urban hike on Thanksgiving Day. This year, I made the decision to keep this tradition, and I took an urban hike in the morning (and early afternoon) which was 21 miles.

.

As soon as I returned home from my 21 mile urban hike, my wife and daughter were preparing to take a modest short walk to snag a Thanksgiving Day snack. Naturally, I joined them. This added an additional two miles to my day. And finally, after delicious dinner to Beef Brisket we set out once time more into the cold dark night to get into the Retail Holiday spirit by looking for some stores in downtown Chicago which were opening for some late-night Thanksgiving Day pre-Black Friday commerce. While at Macy's I conducted my annual check of the MARC JACOBS department.

TRADITIONAL THANKSGIVING TWENTY

Yesterday, was the beginning of a new tradition.  I set out in the morning, long before my family was stirring about, to walk 20 miles.  The weather was much more cooperative at the beginning than at the end of this particular urban hike.  The weather was a very comfortable 53°F when I started and the forecast for rain was for much later in the afternoon.  The forecast for rain was not quite so accurate.  The last 5 miles of my walk was largely in a pouring rain.  Nevertheless, I perservered and continued on until I had logged my 20th mile.  Whether I will be able to do this next Thanksgiving (a 20 mile walk does carve out a bit of time) or not - I do not know.  It seems like a good tradition to shoot for.  Next year I will let you know how the 2nd Annual Traditional Thanksgiving Twenty goes....
.

As part of my 20 mile urban hike - I explored parts of Grant Park for the first time

.

For the past few days, I have continued to attempt to 'perfect' this type of 'action' photograph.  By standing very near the edge, it does become much more obvious that I am 'in the air.'  On this grey day, my bright orange shirt is the only color in the picture.  It should be fairly obvious now that the premise of the 1992 film, White Men Can't Jump, is certainly not disproved by my prowess defying gravity!

LOST MY SECOND TURKEY

Regular readers of this blog might remember that nearly one month ago, January 21, I  reported that I had lost 24 lbs in 24 days and to highlight that achievement I posted a photograph of myself holding a 23 lb turkey.

As of yesterday, February 14, I have now lost 46 lbs in 52 days.
(I never believed that I was going to continue to lose exactly one pound per day.  Nevertheless, 46 lbs in 52 days ain't too shabby!)

46 lbs = TWO TURKEYS

Naturally, I needed to return to the supermarket to take a new picture.

FEBRUARY 14, 2015   On this date, I weighed myself
and discovered that I had lost 46 lbs since December 24.
I had wanted to hold two turkeys that weighed 46 lbs, and
the two turkeys that I did find only weighed 42 lbs.
For the purposes of this photo - that's close enough!
(I am wearing my brand-new 44 waist blue jeans)

JANUARY 21, 2015   Back on that date, I had lost 24 lbs and posed with a 23 lb turkey to visualize my accomplishment.  On this date, I was happy to wear my size 48 waist blue jeans.  They have since been donated to Goodwill.
