ANOTHER DAY WHEN WORK INTERFERES WITH HIKING TIME (DAY 121)

I did not find time to hike yesterday... In fact, I was particularly INACTIVE - check out my 'steps' for the day - I didn't get past 7000.  On the other hand, I am a salesman. It is my selling career that propels me about the state and affords me the opportunity to hike in all kinds of different locales. Wednesday was a hikeless day, but it was a particularly fruitful day at work - and that is important too.

A NORMAL DAY IN ILLINOIS (DAY 119)

Trying to get ahead of an early midwest snowstorm, I was in Bloomington, Illinois on Sunday. There was a threat of rain before the threat was to turn to snow. I set out for a hike at around noon and I hiked to NORMAL.  (Normal, Illinois...that is)

SHORT DAY IN CHICAGO (DAY 118)

My weekend at home was cut short.
Cut short by the need to leave Chicago to avoid a predicted snow storm.
But not before I found the time to take a hike.

ANOTHER DAY WITHOUT EXERCISING (DAY 112)

A one day tradeshow in Shipshewana, Indiana kept me busy all day from 7:00AM until 5:00PM.  After the show, I had to drive 3 hours to Indianapolis. Another day without exercising. I did not forget to eat.

SNOVEMBER (DAY 108)

There was much more snow from DC through New England.... Still even in southern Illinois, I had to deal with a couple of inches of snow that fell overnight on Wednesday. Which means that I was trudging through it on Thursday during my 6 mile hike in Effingham.

SKIPPED A DAY (DAY 99)

Monday was get-away day from Houston back home.
There was no time, or desire to get a walk in.
So I skipped a day.
In combination with some poorer eating choices whilst in Houston, it appears that I may have gone five pounds in the wrong direction...
OK, time to get back on track.

RECTANGULAR WALK (DAY 76)

Saturday morning at 9:00AM I set out in the 37° F temperature in Chicago. The cold weather didn't feel so bad as I was properly dressed and there was no humidity in the air.
I walked 3 miles west, 2 miles south, 3 miles east and 2 miles north.
I basically walked a 10 mile rectangle.

I am still counting my days since I began this trip from 283.6 lbs down to my current 233.6 lbs. The first 70 or so days were limited to approximately 1000 calories per day. In the past week or so I have allowed myself to consume 1500+ calories, although I have not exceeded 2000 calories.

Check out the beautiful crisp blue sky hanging over the city.

If I am going to walk over the next few months, I can never let a  37° F temperature stop me.  It's going to get a lot colder in the upcoming weeks. Still it is mildly amazing to me that seven days ago I was walking in 90° F temperatures.

WHAT A MORON (DAY 64)

You are wondering who is the moron?
It is I.

On December 25, 2014, I weighed 309 lbs. This morning I weighed 237 lbs.
That's good. Nothing moronic about that.  I am down 72 lbs from December 24, 2014.
But there is a moronic way that I traveled to get here.

One year ago, I weighed 255 lbs. This morning I weighed 237 lbs.
That's good.  Nothing moronic about that.  I am down 8 lbs in the last year.
But there is a moronic way that I traveled to get here.

Two months ago. I weighed 283. 6 lbs.  It is moronic that I let myself gain so much weight.
This morning I weighed 237 lbs.
That's good. Nothing moronic about that.
I am down 47 lbs in the past two months.
There is nothing particularly moronic about that.
That is, if I can end repeating the cycle of losing and gaining weight.

This chart of my weight since December 24, 2014 through this morning, October 1, 2018 shows that I have lost 72.5 pounds in the past four years.  This would be a great chart if it was a chart of the Dow Jones after the 1929 crash.  As a chart of my weight over the past four years, it's a bit moronic.

This is a chart of my weight in the past twelve months, one year.  In the past year I have lost 8.4 lbs.  That is a very hard way to lost 8.4 lbs. In fact, it's a moronic way to lost 8.4 lbs in one year.

This is a chart of my weight over the past two months. In the past two months, I have lost a relatively astounding 47.1 lbs. There is nothing moronic about that as long as I don't repeat the cycle of gaining much of it back. I would like to think that my days of being a moron, at least with respect to my weight are behind me.
