STAY AWAY FROM THE CRAZY PILLS

Today, I share with you some hard-hitting, rational, deep thinking from Lawrence O'Donnell at massively intelligent news source MSNBC.  If you agree with Lawrence O'Donnell and don't think that he is a raving lunatic, you might have a severe case of TDS. (Trump Derangement Syndrome)  At this time, there is one known cure for this malady. You will need a transfusion of highly concentrated common sense.
.
The phrase “I feel like I’m taking crazy pills” occurs in the 2001 movie, ZOOLANDER,  when the fashion designer ‘Jacobim Mugatu’, played by Will Ferrell finally expresses his frustration at the fact no one else in the fashion world has noticed Derek Zoolander’s supposedly career defining runway ‘looks’ are nothing more than him pulling the same face over and over again. PERHAPS LAWRENCE O'DONNELL HAS OVERDOSED ON CRAZY PILLS.

Lawrence O’Donnell Wonders: What If ‘Vladimir Putin Masterminded the Last Week in Syria’?

by  | 11:12 pm, April 7th, 2017.

.

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell tonight opened his show positing that “if Vladimir Putin masterminded the last week in Syria, he has gotten everything he could have asked for.”
He argued that it’s conceivable that Putin could have told Bashar al-Assad to carry out a small chemical attack “just big enough to attract media attention so that my friend in the White House will see it on TV” and then Trump can fire missiles that will “do no real damage” to ensure that the U.S. media will “change the subject from Russian influence” on the White House.
O’Donnell said it certainly “changes the conventional wisdom” about the dynamic between Trump and Russia, “as long as you never, never question whether Vladimir Putin wanted all of this to happen this week.”
And when O’Donnell brought on his panel, he immediately made it clear that he does not know what the probability of this is, but he knows it’s not zero:
I raise it without assigning a statistical probability to it, I don’t know what it is. I just know that it’s not zero, and it should be zero. It has been zero with every previous president. But when you look at the way that events have unfolded this week, Donald Trump could not have asked for a better end of the week for his presidency as he sees it.

WHY LEFTISTS ARE BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH

Do you wonder why I have such a strong intolerance for liberal lefties and those that vote for them?
It is because they use the same technique that I use to enjoy a James Bond movie, that is the willing suspension of disbelief.

from wikipedia
The term suspension of disbelief or willing suspension of disbelief has been defined as a willingness to suspend one's critical faculties and believe the unbelievable; sacrifice of realism and logic for the sake of enjoyment. The term was coined in 1817 by the poet and aesthetic philosopher Samuel Taylor Coleridge, who suggested that if a writer could infuse a "human interest and a semblance of truth" into a fantastic tale, the reader would suspend judgement concerning the implausibility of the narrative. Suspension of disbelief often applies to fictional works of the action, comedy, fantasy, and horror genres.
These days, the suspension of disbelief applies to anyone who enjoys reading The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, or watching CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and just about any other channel. The suspension of disbelief belongs at the cinema, not during a news broadcast on television.

In order to believe that the Obama administration 'disarmed' Assad's chemical weapons through diplomacy one had to apply the willing suspension of disbelief.  And it was these same, people who have assured us that IRAN has been neutralized with regards to their attempt to build a nuclear weapons. This stupidity is dangerous. Only a dangerous fool would believe that. If you are a dangerous fool, I assume that you take no joy in reading this. I take no joy in writing it.

Why did Obama pursue a nuclear deal with Iran if the problem was solved in 1994?

Finally, President Obama has been caught red-handed - telling the truth.

Fifty-nine tomahawk missiles fired into Syria on Thursday will start to instill in people that America is no longer going to sit back and watch the thugs run the world. People always ask why does America have to be the world's police force. Why? Because no one else is qualified and/or willing and able to do this very thankless job. Still, we cannot be everywhere, but we can't be nowhere.

NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN

Last night, President Donald Trump announced that the United States had sent nearly 60 Tomahawk missiles to the airbase that launched the recent nerve gas attack in Syria. This response is not unlike what our 44th President wanted to do, but didn't have the guts to do without the approval the mostly amoral United Nations. President Obama was fierce when it came to dishing out warnings and timid when it came to backing up his justified threats. He spoke of the consequences of crossing the 'red line.' When the red line was crossed, there was no response. The result of this was that the United States was not taken seriously on the world stage by Assad or any other world leader, especially the tyrants. The United States was not respected, and worse, it was not feared.  Last nights bombing mission in Syria might have accomplished more than simply the destruction of one airbase owned by a dictatorial killer - it might have sent the message to the rest of the world that there is a 'new sheriff in town.' That message, if sent, and if received would be a very good collateral benefit of last night's military action. Let's all hope so.

GO NUCLEAR

Does the United States Senate overstate their importance? A proposed rule change which will allow the Supreme Court nominee to be appointed without the customary 60 votes is said to be the nuclear option.  Here's why this is great for conservatives. Sometimes the Senate will be in the hands of the liberal Democrats and sometimes, as now the Senate will be in the hands of the Republicans. Republicans always play nice and although they tend to disagree with the politics of the liberal hacks that they must approve - they don't fight the President and they (mostly) vote to approve. Right now the Democrats are making noises that they will not play nice with President Trump's nominee and vote for Gorsuch. Great. Fantastic. No Problem. In the future, the Republicans can nominate the most conservative person they can find, and the Democrats won't be able to stop them. On the other hand, the Democrats will never be able to nominate someone more left than someone like Justice Sotomayor - because such a person doesn't exist. If they supported Raul Castro for the Supreme Court (putting aside for the moment that he is a Cuban citizen), how would his rulings differ from the four Democrat hacks that already vote left on every issue? I'll give you as much time as you need to ponder this...   Go Nuclear.

I spent just one day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and before I left to scoot back into Ohio, I visited Frick Park and finally took an actually hike in actual woods and while on my hike I saw an actual deer. I don't run into deer too often during my 'urban hikes' in Chicago. It was good to be back on a true wooded path. My fitbit recorded that as part of my hike I climbed the equivalent of 124 floors. There was a lot of ups and downs during my eight mile trek.

SOMETIMES YOU ARE THE NUT

The 'showdown' in the Senate is upcoming by week's end... The Republicans want an 'up and down' vote on Judge Gorsich and the Democrats want to prevent this vote with a filibuster.

This is what Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said on the Senate floor, November 2013 when Republicans were stalling the votes on some Democrat appointments with their own fillibusters.

“We need to call out these filibusters for what they are: naked attempts to nullify the results of the last presidential election. To force us to govern as though President Obama hadn’t won the 2012 election. Well, President Obama did win the 2012 election by five million votes, and he has done what the Constitution requires him to do.”.

BASICALLY, I AGREE WITH HER.... Her statement just needs a tweak to two....

We need to call out these filibusters for what they are: naked attempts to nullify the results of the last presidential election. To force us to govern as though President TRUMP hadn't won the 2016 election. Well, President TRUMP did win the 2016 election by 74 electoral college votes, and he has done what the Constitution requires him to do.

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is obviously a true patriot. She honors the Senate by her mere presence and has an unwavering reverence for the United States Constitution. She understands that the winner of the Presidential Election has the right to have their nominees voted on and not blocked by filibusters of the minority who have lost an election. I agree with her completely. The only problem is that she does not agree with herself anymore. She apparently no longer thinks that filibusters are naked attempt to nullify the results of elections. That's called a '180'. Well....you know what they say, "Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't."  Sometimes you are the nut.
