WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS

On Friday afternoon, Hurricane Patricia was forecast to have been one of the most powerful hurricanes, ever. The storm was harsh, although it did not live up to the hype. It did make landfall in Mexico as scheduled. The remnants of the storm that illegally immigrated from Mexico into the United States were still very dramatic. Perhaps, I should have referred to 'Patricia' as an undocumented storm, I forgot there is no such thing as an illegal immigrant.

After two consecutive 13.1 mile walks on Thursday and Friday in Houston, I was fairly certain that I would not have any meaningful blocks of time to get in a workout of even one hour.  Not only was I right about the lack of time, but the desire to walk was greatly diminished by non stop rain all day on Saturday and and the forecast for more rain on Sunday. It appears that this hurricane inspired storm is having a deleterious effect on attendance at the trade show.

Areas across Southeast Texas including the Houston, Texas, to Galveston, Texas, corridor will see heavy rain that will lead to flooding into Sunday. As moisture from once-Hurricane Patricia joins forces with a developing storm system and Gulf of Mexico moisture, heavy rain will continue to spread across eastern and southern Texas to Louisiana through Sunday. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out along the coast."The heaviest rain overnight will fall across southeast Texas and far southwest Louisiana," AccuWeather Meteorologist Mike Doll said. "Rainfall rates in and around Houston can be as high as 1 to 1.5 inches an hour. More flooding is likely as creeks and streams will continue to rise. Drivers should not attempt to drive across flooded roads." One of the hardest-hit areas so far has been around Corsicana, Texas, where rainfall totals are over 20 inches. Some other communities will be inundated with rain amounts of a foot or more by Monday.

Lately, I have discovered how easy and efficient it is for me to simply post my food diary from myfitnesspal.com website.  I am reminding you, my reader, and myself, especially when I go back an read this blog  weeks, months and years from now... that I often substitute any food I can find in the vast online file for foods.  For example, last evening, I had two 'lobster enchilladas' at a restaurant called Sambuca.  I have no way of determining the calorie content of this particular meal.  The best way I know to approximate it caloric content was to enter something similar in my food diary.  I found 'Homemade - Enchilladas, 2 enchillada' which was listed at 736 calories.  Likely my actual dinner was less...but I don't know... My goal is to have something that approaches realism for this diary entry.  If the calorie content is understated or overstated.... I will still have to weigh myself once per week.  And sadly, the scale does not lie. (Not even a little white lie once in a while to make me feel better....)
