FORSYTH, ILLINOIS

It was not easy to find the time for an urban hike on Thursday.  Like 40 million other Americans, I was up late on Wednesday night watching the Chicago Cubs win their first World Series since 1908. Yesterday morning, I needed to get up early at 5AM and be on my way by 7AM for a 10:00AM appointment about 130 miles from Chicago. After that appointment I had to drive another 60 miles to Virden, Illinois. Finally, I needed to drive approximately 60 miles yet again, to get to Forsyth, Illinois which planted me about 30 minutes from my Friday morning appointment. I did not arrive to Forsythe until just after sunset. It would have been easy to simply scrap my urban hike - I chose not to do that. Although it was dark when I set out, the temperature was a very welcoming, 58°F.  I did manage to squeeze in a ten mile urban hike.
