YOU CAN ALWAYS COUNT ON AMERICANS

Election Day in America was Tuesday November 8. It was a day like any other, except for the political earthquake that rumbled through every continent on Earth as people realized that Donald Trump was about to become the most powerful man on the planet. Before the magnitude of the earthquake was finally confirmed around 3:00AM EST early Wednesday morning, there were many hours of rumblings that warned that something big and unexpected was happening. Like many Americans, I was glued to the TV until around 3:30AM EST when the President Elect finished his speech. Apparently, there must have been an energizing effect on me, as I awoke less than three hours later in order to listen to the news as it was being discussed on the radio. The nice thing about my hobby, that is, walking and hiking is that it is very easy to walk about while listening to the radio. By 7:00AM I was dressed in some extra warm clothes, with my ski cap and gloves, and I was setting out for the final ten mile hike in Shipshewana before I headed to another part of the state. The summery weather of Monday afternoon had long vanished, and a winter chill was in the air as the temperatures were in the low 40's.  I cannot understand how I found the energy to take this hike with less than three hours sleep. The truth is, I think there was an extra bounce in my step as I was still trying to come to grips with the surprisingly cheerful news that the President elect was a man named Donald Trump and not would-be criminal named Hillary Clinton. America had rejected leftism, in a way that Winston Churchill had predicted...











The early morning had me outside hiking 10 miles in Shipshewana.  I drove to Muncie, Indiana and my hotel had a small fitness room. As the fitness room had an elliptical machine, and I had the time, I spent 90 minutes on it and allegedly burned an additional 1202 calories.
