I admit it. I don't know what the deal is with Trump and Russia. This morning America was greeted with the news that now there is a cloud hanging over Attorney General Jeff Sessions because he allegedly spoke with the Russian Ambassador twice during the campaign season. Apparently the admission of these discussions failed to become public during his confirmation hearings. Let me be clear. I have a much increased level of forgiveness for Republicans. This level of forgiveness is not shared by Democrats or the press. When a Democrat lies (or misremembers, or forgets) it is not news. There are no calls for endless investigations. If lying was a problem, Hillary Clinton, would never have been allowed to run for president. She would have been disqualified by the press. She would have been disqualified by her own party. And she would have been disqualified by her voters. I can't imagine why (or how) Russia could have influenced the election results in the United States. Clearly their influence did not exist on the two coasts. For example, in Washington, DC, the voters supported Clinton over Trump by a factor of approximately 9 to 1. So, in Washington, James Comey's FBI pronouncements did not matter, wikileaks revelations didn't matter, the rigging of the primary election by the Democratic Party to deny Bernie Sanders the nomination did not matter. I admit it. I do not care if Jeff Sessions spoke with the Russian Ambassador. Maybe his conversation was similar to the conversation that Bill Clinton had with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on the airport tarmac. They, too, likely discussed grandchildren and golf. Do you see where I am going here? Trump won the election. It is now his time to govern.
Note to Jeff Sessions:
The next time someone at a Congressional Hearing asks you a question that you feel uncomfortable answering. Do not lie. Do not misremember. Do not forget.
