NEEDING A NEW HOBBY

For well over one year, my 'new' hobby has been exercising. Recently sidelined, with a hernia which I am told will not heal by itself, but will become far less painful within a week or two, I have rediscovered my old hobby. Eating.

My doctor said that once the pain dissipates, even before I elect to to fix the hernia, that I should be able to walk fast as before. Heavy lifting would be forbidden, but that was not part of my exercise regiment anyway. Right now I hope that my doctor is correct in his assessment that the discomfort will go away. During large parts of the day, I feel no discomfort, but there are also times when I am very much reminded that everything is not as it should be.

There's no getting around this - this is a bummer.
After spending so many consecutive weeks being so active and taking such great joy in counting my steps - I can now take equal and opposite sadness in realizing just how inactive I have been the past couple of weeks. I still keep my fitbit on each day, out of habit. Although it is certainly a pointless thing to do.
