MIDWAY AIRPORT HIKE

On Saturday, my fifteen year old daughter was flying solo to California. Not quite in the same way that Amelia Earhart flew solo, but still flying alone. Airport rules limit the number of parents who can accompany a young traveler to the gate area. So our complete family of three drove to Midway Airport together. I kissed my daughter goodbye before she went through TSA checkpoint and walked home. I didn't even take the shortest way home, and when I finished this particular urban hike, I had logged 14 miles.

As soon as I arrived home, I changed my clothes in order to walk a mere 1.7 miles to a 'local' sushi restaurant with my wife. This was how the meal started.
