I guess I am lucky, I am not 2000 light years from home. Here comes the most overused expression of the current day: HAVING SAID THAT - I recently have been going in the wrong direction. Lucky for me, I do not have to travel too far (metaphorically speaking) to get back 'home'. In my case, I will define 'home' as a weight right under 220 lbs. That is where I have been 'living' (metaphorically speaking) for the past 4 months.
I have once again, proved to myself the futility of weighing oneself every day. My tradition is to weigh myself on Saturday for the purpose of gauging my progress (either forward or backward)
Yesterday, I hopped on the scale to get an idea of how far off course I was. The needle didn't stop until it reached 230lbs. (I am really speaking in metaphors today. I have a digital scale. There is no needle. But I am sure you get the idea of what I am trying to convey....)
It surely seemed impossible that I could have gained 4.4 lbs in just 6 days. I understand that I have been overeating. Surely I did not overeat enough to pack on 4.4 lbs. The question arises: How could I have gained 4.4 lbs in six days. The short answer is that I obviously did not. I had a big bulky heavy salad and a couple of apples late Thursday night and I am sure that my body has not had enough time to process (digest) this food. I also drank an enormous amount of fluids (coffee & flavored water) which also likely were not completely flushed from my system. I did gain weight last week - I just didn't gain 4.4 lbs.
Still the sight of 230lbs on my scale, whatever the explanation was useful in getting my attention. Yesterday I limited myself to 1000 calories.
my calorie consumption on Friday was just 1000 - just like the old days |

I have three words of advice for myself today: Stay on Course
...I know how to begin this week... I think it might be another good day to to burn 2000+ calories with a strenuous session on the elliptical machine.
