Later Saturday afternoon I drove down to Bloomington, Illinois for a two-day wholesale fabric show. My reservation was made about six months in advance at Baymont Inn which is a Wyndham Hotel. Imagine my surprise as I drove up and noticed that their big light with the name of the hotel was unlit and that there was not a single car in the parking lot. Nevertheless, the light in the lobby was on so I did get out of my car with my suitcase only to be greeted by a sign that said 'CLOSED FOR RENOVATION.' I didn't have much choice but to book another hotel about 4 miles away. Once I was checked in, I did call the '800' number for Wyndham and asked if there were any issues with my original reservation. The reservation was checked and everything was in order. (except for the minor detail that the hotel was closed for renovations) The attentive person I spoke to, apologized and vowed to look into this as her reservation system was still happily accepting reservations for this closed property. For my troubles I was awarded a free night at a hotel of my choosing.
